Genetic risk variants implicate impaired maintenance and repair of periodontal tissues as causal for periodontitis—A synthesis of recent findings

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
AbstractPeriodontitis is a complex inflammatory disease in which the host genome, in conjunction with extrinsic factors, determines susceptibility and progression. Genetic predisposition is the strongest risk factor in the first decades of life. As people age, chronic exposure to the periodontal microbiome puts a strain on the proper maintenance of ...

Production of Fibrinolysin In Vivo.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1936
It was recently reported1 that the fibrinolysin of hemolytic streptococci may be found in vivo. The fibrinolytic agent could be demonstrated in the spinal fluid of patients with purulent meningitis due to streptococcus hemolyticus. Subsequently, purulent exudates from various sources have been examined for fibrinolytic potency.

Effects of intracameral tissue plasminogen activator injection on posterior capsular opacification, fibrin formation, and intraocular pressure in dogs after phacoemulsification

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To evaluate whether intracameral tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) injection is effective in regulating posterior capsular opacification (PCO), fibrin formation and intraocular pressure (IOP) after cataract surgery. Animal Studied Prospective study involving 30 eyes of 21 dogs that underwent phacoemulsification.

Decreases in circulating ANGPTL3/8 concentrations following retatrutide treatment parallel reductions in serum lipids

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 27, Issue 10, Page 5985-5995, October 2025.
Abstract Aims The aim of this study was to determine if retatrutide, a triple agonist of glucose‐dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor, glucagon‐like peptide 1 (GLP‐1) receptor and glucagon (GCG) receptor, may lower serum triglyceride (TG) and low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL‐C) levels in part by decreasing circulating ...

Neurobiological Synergy of Plant and Animal Sources of Omega‐3 and Exercise in Aging: Implications for Molecular Signaling, Memory, Spatial Learning, and Brain Function

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 9, September 2025.
Omega‐3 fatty acids from animal sources, combined with exercise, modulate key molecular pathways to enhance neurogenesis, synaptic plasticity, and antioxidant defenses. These interventions also increase tissue plasminogen activator activity, promoting both amyloid‐β degradation and proBDNF cleavage into BDNF, thereby reducing neurodegeneration and ...

First isolation and identification of Vibrio vulnificus (biotype 2) from cultured beluga, huso huso in Iran [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
By decreasing sturgeon stocks in the Caspian Sea, rearing different sturgeon species especially Huso huso was increased in Iran. Under stress conditions the sturgeon can easily be infected by several opportunistic pathogens.

Dynamics of Fibrinolysin-Production by Streptococci.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1937
To estimate the amount (or potency) of the fibrinolytic “enzyme” formed or secreted by Streptococcus hemolyticus, the following titrative method has been adopted by our laboratory. Standard solutions of fibrinogen and thrombin are prepared from freshly drawn human blood by the method of Tillett and Garner.1 Serial dilutions (1:2) are made of the broth ...

Transforming Growth Factor‐Beta Signaling in Cancer: Therapeutic Implications, Challenges, and Pathways to Progress

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 4, Issue 3, September 2025.
TGF‐β inhibition is emerging as a promising cancer therapy, yet translating laboratory success to bedside implementation has suffered significant setbacks. The associated challenges include adverse drug reactions, inadequate predictive models, and activation of alternative signaling pathways.
