Fibroblast growth factors [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 2003
What are they? Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) are a family of small (20–30kDa) intercellular signalling proteins which are frequently found to be glycosylated. The first draft of the human genome identified 29 potential FGF genes, and so far transcripts have been identified for 23 of them.

Trophic and neurotrophic factors in human pituitary adenomas (Review) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The pituitary gland is an organ that functionally connects the hypothalamus with the peripheral organs. The pituitary gland is an important regulator of body homeostasis during development, stress, and other processes.

In situ formation of poly(vinyl alcohol)–heparin hydrogels for mild encapsulation and prolonged release of basic fibroblast growth factor and vascular endothelial growth factor

open access: yesJournal of Tissue Engineering, 2016
Heparin-based hydrogels are attractive for controlled growth factor delivery, due to the native ability of heparin to bind and stabilize growth factors.

Fibroblast Growth Factor Inhibitors [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Thoracic Oncology, 2010
Dr. Ignatio Witsuba (MD Anderson) started this session by giving an overview of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) pathway and expression of FGFs (22 members), FGF receptors (FGFRs, four members), and their gene family members in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Separation of cell survival, growth, migration, and mesenchymal transdifferentiation effects of fibroblast secretome on tumor cells of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2017
Fibroblasts play a central role in tumor invasion, recurrence, and metastasis in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of tumor cell self-produced factors and paracrine fibroblast–secreted factors ...

The effects of growth factors on multicellular spheroids formed by chick embryonic retinal cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Retinal cells from chick embryos aged 7.5 days of gestation were cultured for two months in a non-adherent suspension culture dish to study the effects of growth factors and co-culture with retinal pigment epithelial cells on their differentiation ...

FGF23-klotho axis as predictive factors of fractures in type 2 diabetics with early chronic kidney disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background: The aim of our study was to evaluate the relevance of FGF23-klotho axis in the predisposition for bone fractures in type 2 diabetic patients with early chronic kidney disease.

Fibroblast Growth Factors: Biology, Function, and Application for Tissue Regeneration [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Tissue Engineering, 2010
Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) that signal through FGF receptors (FGFRs) regulate a broad spectrum of biological functions, including cellular proliferation, survival, migration, and differentiation.

Growth factors and experimental arterial grafts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: The production of growth factors from several experimental arterial conduits was determined. Methods: We implanted 105 experimental arterial grafts that were 1 cm long in the abdominal aorta of Lewis rats (average weight, 250 g).

Interferons: Antiangiogenesis Agents (A Reasonable Theory)

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1992
Antiviral and immunomodulatory effects of interferons (IFNs) are well-known. This communication lists arguments for explicit antiangiogenetic effects exerted by interferons.
