Co‐Electrospinning Extracellular Matrix with Polycaprolactone Enables a Modular Approach to Balance Bioactivity and Mechanics of a Multifunctional Bone Wrap

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The incorporation of nondigested ECM and synthetic polymers into a co‐electrospinning system enables the decoupling of bioactivity and mechanical properties within a single wrap. This technique is used to develop a multifunctional bone wrap that achieves augmented membrane durability, sustained infection control, and enhanced vascularity for use in ...

Absorbent Biopolymer From Crosslinked Plasticized Fish Gelatin

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions
A moderate absorbency polymer derived from fish gelatin was investigated to enhance its mechanical properties and hydrophilicity through irradiation-induced crosslinking. Tilapia skin gelatin, plasticized with glycerol, was used to examine the effects of varying concentrations of glutaraldehyde (GTA) and different irradiation doses on the biopolymer's ...

Few‐Layered Conductive Graphene Foams for Electrical Transdifferentiation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells Into Schwann Cell‐Like Phenotypes

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Few‐layered three dimansional conductive graphene foams are promising cytocompatible platforms to transdifferentiate mesenchymal stem cells into Schwann cell‐like phenotypes using electrical and microstructural cues. Applied electrical stimulation conditions resulted in activation of MAPK, neurotrphin and RAS signaling pathways that led to upregulation

A Patient‐Specific 3D Printed Carotid Artery Model Integrating Vascular Structure, Flow, and Endothelium Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces the first miniaturized, patient‐specific carotid artery model created via 3D printing using GelMA with embedded vascular cells. Combining CFD, PIV, and flow perfusion, the model replicates anatomically dependent hemodynamics and cellular responses.

Enhancement of Hydrophobicity of Fish Skin Gelatin via Molecular Modification with Oxidized Linoleic Acid

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, 2019
Fish gelatin possesses hydrophilicity in nature since it contains a few hydrophobic amino acids and a large portion of hydrophilic amino acids. Low hydrophobicity of fish gelatin results in poor water vapor barrier and water resistance of gelatin films ...

SCIENTIFIC SUBSTANTIATION OF PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF FISH GELATIN

open access: yesVestnik of Astrakhan State Technical University. Series: Fishing industry, 2018
The article presents the advantages of fish gelatin available for nutritional purposes in comparison with gelatin of mammals. Factors forming the basic physical properties of gelatin as a structure-forming agent have been identified. The analysis of melting temperature of jelly and the dynamic viscosity of fish gelatin solutions has been carried out ...

A Microphysiological Interface of Skeletal Myobundles and Inflamed Adipose Tissue for Recapitulating Muscle Dysfunction in an Obese Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A human cell‐based microphysiological system integrates engineered muscle tissues with an inflamed adipose–macrophage niche to model obese microenvironment‐induced muscle dysfunction. Muscle contraction is quantified by pillar deflection coupled with computational stiffness estimation. Secretome and transcriptomic profiling reveal inflammation‐mediated

A Heparin‐Functionalized Scaffold with HB‐EGF Immobilization for Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, a heparin‐functionalized scaffold is designed for bio‐mimicking growth factors reservoir function of extracellular matrix. Due to the presence of heparin‐binding domain, heparin‐binding epidermal growth factor‐like growth factor (HB‐EGF) is effectively and spatially captured by heparin‐functionalized scaffold.
