Can human nutrition be improved through better fish feeding practices? a review paper

open access: yesCritical reviews in food science and nutrition, 2020
Achieving Sustainable Development Goal 2 of zero hunger and malnutrition by 2030 will require dietary shifts that include increasing the consumption of nutrient dense foods by populations in low- and middle-income countries. Animal source foods are known

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Vitamin D3 alleviates the damage caused by high-fat and maintains lipid metabolism homeostasis in hepatopancreas by promoting fatty acid β-oxidation of Portunus trituberculatus

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
The purpose of present study was to evaluate the effects of vitamin D3 supplementation in high-fat diet on growth performance, calcium and phosphorus in tissue, immunity and lipid metabolism, and to explore whether adding vitamin D3 to high-fat diet can ...

Vitamin D3 alleviates high-fat induced hepatopancreas lipid accumulation and inflammation by activating AMPKkα/PINK1/Parkin-mediated mitophagy in Litopenaeus vannamei

open access: yesAquaculture Reports, 2022
A high-fat diet (HFD) model was built to elucidate the regulatory mechanisms of vitamin D on lipid metabolism in shrimp. An 8-week feeding trial was aimed to determine whether dietary vitamin D3 would ameliorate the adverse effects of HFD feeding in ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Metabolic and nutritional effects of vitamin A on growth, lipid metabolism, antioxidant capacity and hepatopancreas health of juvenile mud crab (Scylla paramamosain)

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
An 8-week feeding trial was conducted to determine the effects of different vitamin A (VA) level on growth performance, lipid metabolism, antioxidant capacity and hepatopancreas health of juvenile mud crab (Scylla paramamosain).
