Elongated Riboflavin‐Producing Shewanella oneidensis in a Hybrid Biofilm Boosts Extracellular Electron Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2023
Shewanella oneidensis is able to carry out extracellular electron transfer (EET), although its EET efficiency is largely limited by low flavin concentrations, poor biofilm forming‐ability, and weak biofilm conductivity.

Structure-based electron-confurcation mechanism of the Ldh-EtfAB complex

open access: yeseLife, 2022
Lactate oxidation with NAD+ as electron acceptor is a highly endergonic reaction. Some anaerobic bacteria overcome the energetic hurdle by flavin-based electron bifurcation/confurcation (FBEB/FBEC) using a lactate dehydrogenase (Ldh) in concert with the ...

The plant growth promoting substance, lumichrome, mimics starch and ethylene-associated symbiotic responses in lotus and tomato roots

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2012
Symbiosis involves responses that maintain the plant host and symbiotic partner’s genetic program; yet these cues are far from elucidated. Here we describe the effects of lumichrome, a flavin identified from Rhizobium spp., applied to lotus (Lotus ...

Redox linked flavin sites in extracellular decaheme proteins involved in microbe-mineral electron transfer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Extracellular microbe-mineral electron transfer is a major driving force for the oxidation of organic carbon in many subsurface environments. Extracellular multi-heme cytochromes of the Shewenella genus play a major role in this process but the mechanism

Essential lipid autacoids rewire mitochondrial energy efficiency in metabolic dysfunction‐associated fatty liver disease

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Increased liver content of DHA‐derived small lipid autacoids (i.e resolvin D1 and maresin 1) associates with enhanced mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, fatty acid β‐oxidation and bioenergetic metabolic flux. These features provide hepatic protection from steatotic, pro‐inflammatory and fibrogenic insults.

N1,N4-bis(2-(7,8-dimethyl-2,4-dioxo-3,4-dihydrobenzo[g]pteridin-10(2H)-yl)ethylidene)succinohydrazide

open access: yesMolbank, 2022
The title compound, N′1,N′4-bis(2-(7,8-dimethyl-2,4-dioxo-3,4-dihydrobenzo[g]pteridin-10(2H)-yl)ethylidene)succinohydrazide (1), was obtained by the reaction of formylmethylflavin and succinic acid dihydrazide.

Determination of the concentrations of possible endogenous photosensitizers in Candida auris via two-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy

open access: yesAIMS Biophysics
Candida auris is an emerging pathogenic yeast. In order to investigate possible light-based disinfection systems or therapeutic approaches, this study examined the formation of possible photosensitizers under different growth conditions.
