A Molecular Mechanics Model for Flavins

open access: yesJournal of Computational Chemistry, 2019
Flavin containing molecules form a group of important cofactors that assist a wide range of enzymatic reactions. Flavins use the redox‐active isoalloxazine system, which is capable of one‐ and two‐electron transfer reactions and can exist in several ...

Essential lipid autacoids rewire mitochondrial energy efficiency in metabolic dysfunction‐associated fatty liver disease

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Increased liver content of DHA‐derived small lipid autacoids (i.e resolvin D1 and maresin 1) associates with enhanced mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, fatty acid β‐oxidation and bioenergetic metabolic flux. These features provide hepatic protection from steatotic, pro‐inflammatory and fibrogenic insults.

Crystal structure of the yellow 1:2 molecular complex lumiflavin–bisnaphthalene-2,3-diol [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
In the first molecular complex of the physiologically active neutral form of isoalloxazine studied, lumiflavin–bisnaphthalene-2,3-diol, each flavin is sandwiched between two naphthalenediol molecules with extensive overlap but a moderately large (3·44 Å)

Two-Photon Excitation of Flavins and Flavoproteins with Classical and Quantum Light.

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2018
In this contribution, the entangled two-photon absorption (ETPA) process on naturally occurring flavoproteins was studied. Low temperature responsive protein (LOT6P) and b-type dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHOD B), which possess flavin mononucleotide ...

Two Modes of Riboflavin-Mediated Extracellular Electron Transfer in Geobacter uraniireducens

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Anaerobes respire extracellular electron acceptors by extracellular electron transfer (EET). It is widely recognized that flavins can act as electron shuttles to facilitate this process. Flavin synthesis genes are widely distributed in Geobacter species.
