Feasibility of In Vivo Retinal Flavoprotein Autofluorescence Imaging in a Magnetic‐Bead‐Induced Rodent Glaucoma Model

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, Volume 19, Issue 6, June 2026.
A scanning laser ophthalmoscope, integrated with a real‐time optical coherence tomography (OCT) alignment monitor, detected flavoprotein fluorescence (FPF) signals associated with mitochondrial dysfunction in a rodent glaucoma model. Under 450‐nm excitation, experimental eyes showed spatially inhomogeneous signals that were absent under 505‐nm ...

Extracellular Vesicles of Giardia duodenalis: Unravelling Their Virulence Factors and Potential to Induce Protection Against Experimental Giardiasis

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Biology, Volume 5, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are key mediators of intercellular communication, enabling trans‐kingdom exchange of proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and metabolites. In Giardia duodenalis, EVs contribute to parasite survival, host–pathogen interactions, and immune modulation.

Biochemical characterisation of an aldoxime-forming flavoprotein involved in 2-phenylethylglucosinolate biosynthesis in Brassica species

open access: yes, 1999
L-Homophenylalanine (L-HPhe) is the precursor of 2-phenylethylglucosinolate, a secondary metabolite present in some Brassica and related species. A key step in its biosynthesis is the oxidative decarboxylation of L-HPhe to its aldoxime.

Nucleotide sequence coding for the flavoprotein subunit of the fumarate reductase of Escherichia coli

open access: yes
The nucleotide sequence of the frdA gene, which encodes the flavoprotein subunit of the fumarate reductase, of Escherichia coli, has been determined. A polypeptide of Mr = 66,052, containing 602 amino acid residues, is predicted.

Therapeutic Potential of Cucurbitacin I in Colon Adenocarcinoma Is Mediated by Modulation of SDHA Expression

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 11, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Colorectal cancer is a prevalent malignancy, with colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) representing its most common histological subtype. Although most stage I patients remain disease‐free after treatment, a subset rapidly progresses to advanced disease with markedly reduced survival.

The semiquinone swing in the bifurcating electron transferring flavoprotein/butyryl-CoA dehydrogenase complex from Clostridium difficile

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
The electron-transferring flavoprotein / butyryl-CoA dehydrogenase (EtfAB/Bcd) complex catalyzes the reduction of crotonyl-CoA and ferredoxins by NADH in anaerobic microbes.

Unveiling protective mechanisms of wild olive (acebuche) oil in retinal pigment epithelial cells with hypertensive phenotype

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 11, Page 4166-4185, 1 June 2026.
Abstract figure legend Circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from acebuche (ACE) oil‐ and extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)‐fed mice modulate nitric oxide (NO) metabolism in the retinal pigment epithelial cell line (ARPE19) with a hypertensive phenotype induced by angiotensin II (AngII).

Reversible Lichtinduzierte Oligomerisierung von Arabidopsis‑Cryptochrom 1 und Antagonismus durch BIC1: Einblicke durch Zeitaufgelöste Native Massenspektrometrie

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 21, 18 May 2026.
