In-vitro digestion of flaxseed oil encapsulated in phenolic compound adducted flaxseed protein isolate-flaxseed gum complex coacervates

Food Hydrocolloids, 2021
Abstract Two phenolic compounds, flaxseed polyphenol (FPP) and hydroxytyrosol (HT), were covalently adducted with flaxseed protein isolate (FPI) and then complex coacervated with flaxseed gum (FG). Flaxseed oil (FO) was microencapsulated using these complex coacervates as wall materials.

Ultrasound-assisted extraction of oil from flaxseed

Separation and Purification Technology, 2008
Flaxseed oil is the main component of the flaxseed and has many beneficial functions to human health. In this paper, the ultrasound-assisted extraction of oil from flaxseed is reported. The effects of some operating parameters such as ultrasonic power, extraction time, extraction temperature and solvent to solid ratio on the yield of flaxseed oil have ...

Characteristics of flaxseed hull oil☆

Food Chemistry, 2009
Oils from two commercial flaxseed hulls extracted by six procedures were evaluated for physicochemical characteristics. Oil yield ranged from 9% to 28% depending on solvent and extraction. Lipid fractionation of crude flaxseed hull oil yielded 92.5% neutral lipids, 3.1% phospholipids, 2.4% acidic lipids and 2.1% free fatty acids.

Flaxseed oil stimulates gynecomastia

BMJ Case Reports, 2020
Flaxseed oil contains lignans, which exhibit anti-inflammatory and antiatherogenic activities. A 70-year-old male patient presented to our office due to hyperlipidaemia and started to take a tablespoon of flaxseed oil daily. Three months later, he reported left breast swelling and pain. Although the echogram revealed a tumour in the left mammary gland,

TECHNOLOGY OF REFINING FLAXSEED OIL

2022
This article gives insights into the physicochemical properties of unrefined flaxseed oil and the selection of a rational alkaline reagent in order to neutralize free fatty acids. The main parameters of caustic soda were compared with sodium silicate, and the optimal consumption of sodium silicate for alkaline refining of linseed oil was determined ...

Effect of flaxseed and flaxseed oil supplemented in caiman diet on meat fatty acids

Tropical Animal Health and Production, 2021

69  Palatability of Ahiflower oil versus flaxseed and fish oil

Journal of Equine Veterinary Science, 2021
Ahiflower (Buglossoides arvensis) oil is a novel plant-based source of omega-3 fatty acids. Current sources of omega-3 fatty acids typically utilized in equine rations are derived from multiple origins, several of which have palatability challenges with horses.

Flaxseed oil–trastuzumab interaction in breast cancer

Food and Chemical Toxicology, 2010
Flaxseed oil (FO), which is rich in n-3 fatty acid, is commonly consumed by breast cancer patients because of its potential anti-cancer effects. Trastuzumab (TRAS) is the primary drug for epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) positive breast cancer. We investigated in athymic mice whether combining dietary FO (8%) with TRAS treatment (2.5 or 5mg/kg

Protective Effect of flaxseed oil on renal injury in hyperlipidaemic rats: the effect of flaxseed oil on hyperlipidaemia

Phytotherapy Research, 2010
AbstractThis study evaluated the possible effects of flaxseed oil on renal damage associated with hyperlipidaemic rats. Wistar albino male rats were divided into three groups. Group I was fed with a pellet chow. Group II was fed with a high cholesterol diet (HCD) consisting of 5% cholesterol and 0.35% cholic acid added to the pellet chow. Group III was

(5) flaxseed and flaxseed oil

The Pharmaceutical Journal, 2001
Flaxseed is a good source of alpha-linolenic acid, which is converted to long-chain omega-3 fatty acids. Like fish oils it may help to correct deficiency of these fatty acids and could be useful for those wishing to supplement their diets with a plant source of these mutrients.
