Cultivar difference characterization of kiwifruit wines on phenolic profiles, volatiles and antioxidant activity

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X, 2023
Antioxidant activity and volatiles of kiwifruit wine with different flesh colors were investigated in this study. Green (Guichang and Xuxiang), red (Donghong and Hongyang), and yellow (Jinyan) kiwifruits were analyzed to determine their alcohol content ...

Interaction of Genes for Flesh Color in Watermelon [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1996
Watermelon [ Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Matsum. & Nakai] flesh color is controlled by several genes to produce red, canary yellow, salmon yellow, and orange. Our objective was to study the interaction of three gene loci with two or three alleles at each C

Development and Implementation of a Disease‐Targeted Storybook as a Clinical Tool for Children With Acute Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Although significant progress has been made in childhood leukemia survival, healthcare providers, and caregivers often face challenges in explaining this disease to patients. Disease‐targeted storybooks have been proposed as a tool to facilitate the understanding of diagnoses and treatment.

INHERITANCE OF VERMILLION FLESH COLOR IN WATERMELON [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1990
Controlled crosses of a Vermillion red flesh color cultivar with 4 normal red flesh color cultivars were made. F 1 , F 2 , and backcross generations were grown in the field and the fruits evaluated for flesh color. All fruits of the F

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Transcriptome and metabolomics analysis revealed that CmWRKY49 regulating CmPSY1 promotes β-carotene accumulation in orange fleshed oriental melon

open access: yesHorticultural Plant Journal, 2022
The flesh color of oriental melons is an important commercial trait that affects consumer preferences. To explore the mechanisms underlying the flesh color formation and regulation during fruit ripening, carotenoid-targeted metabolomic and RNA-seq ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Rootstocks Affected Postharvest Performance of Grafted ‘Crisby’ and ‘Crimson Tide’ Watermelon Cultivars

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Sciences, 2018
Watermelon fruit from ‘Crisby’ (CR) and ‘Crimson Tide’ (CT) grafted onto Ferro, RS841, Argentario and Macis rootstocks and non-grafted CR and CT were compared for their postharvest quality at 7 °C for 21 days.
