Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

Inheritance of the Flesh Color and Shape of the Tuberous Root of Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas [L.] Lam.)

open access: yesHorticulturae
The continued success of any conventional sweet potato breeding program is limited by knowledge of the inheritance of the traits under study, such as flesh color and tuberous root shape, because of the difficulty of segregating color frequencies by ...

Carotenoid Profiling of Yellow-Flesh Peach Fruit

open access: yesFoods, 2022
In this study, the carotenoid profiles and content in 132 cultivars of yellow-flesh peach having different fruit developmental periods (short, middle, and long), fruit surface indumenta (glabrous and pubescent skin), and flesh colors (yellow, golden, and

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Genome-Wide Association Study Identifies Candidate Genes Regulating Berry Color in Grape (Vitis vinifera L.)

open access: yesAgronomy
Berry color is a critical determinant of grape quality and market value. While the genetic basis of skin color has been extensively studied, the regulatory network controlling flesh coloration remains largely uncharacterized.

Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...

Exploring the differential mechanisms of carotenoid biosynthesis in the yellow peel and red flesh of papaya

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2019
Background Red-fleshed papaya is a good material to study the different carotenoids accumulation mechanism in the peel and flesh. Although the peel and flesh of papaya closely integrated into one body, the flesh coloration changing from white to red ...

Interaction of flesh color genes in watermelon [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Heredity, 1998
Watermelon [Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Matsum. & Nakai] flesh color is controlled by several genes to produce red, orange, salmon yellow, canary yellow, or white. The objective of these experiments was to study the interaction of three independently reported gene loci, each having two or three alleles: C (canary yellow) versus c (red), y (salmon yellow)
