Preparation of DNA-binding domain of Forkhead transcription factor FOXO3 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This bachelor thesis is part of a project aiming for the development of low molecular compounds which would be capable to inhibit the interaction between human transcription factor FOXO3 and DNA.

FOXA1 is a highly sensitive diagnostic marker for prostate cancer including small cell carcinoma of the prostate

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
FOXA1 is a highly sensitive diagnostic marker for prostate cancer. Besides prostatic adenocarcinoma, it is also expressed in 57%–80% of metastatic or primary prostatic small cell carcinomas, which lose traditional prostatic markers including NKX3.1. Although it is less specific than NKX3.1, it can serve as a valuable adjunct for confirming prostatic ...

Distinctive gene expression in the reduced first thoracic legs of a nymphalid butterfly

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, EarlyView.
Transcriptome analysis reveals that the small non‐walking front legs of a butterfly have distinct gene expression to the four walking legs. Reduced front legs express a gene with putative mechanosensory roles, a blue‐sensitive opsin and two homeobox genes.

Inflammatory and Immunological Basis of Periodontal Diseases

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
The periodontal lesion emerges as an evolving immunological battlefield, where host–microbiome interactions, dysregulated immune responses, fragile resolution mechanisms, and inflammophilic dysbiosis converge to shift the balance from homeostasis to unrestrained tissue destruction.

Characterisation of a forkhead transcription factor: FOXE1. [PDF]

open access: yes
FOXE1, a forkhead transcription factor, plays an essential role in the development of the thyroid and hair follicle. Loss-of-function FOXE1 mutations cause aberrant morphogenesis of both tissues, apparently due to a defect in cell migration. In the mature thyroid, FOXE1 plays an essential role in the control of thyroid hormone synthesis, modulating ...

Oxidative Stress–Driven Alterations in FoxO‐1 and MMP‐9 Activity in Smoking‐Associated Periodontitis

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Smoking disrupts oxidative balance and is a major risk factor for periodontitis. Forkhead box protein O‐1 (FoxO‐1) regulates antioxidant defense, yet its contribution to smoking‐associated periodontal breakdown is unclear. This cross‐sectional case–control study assessed reactive oxygen species (ROS), matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP‐
