Prolonged exposure to artificial light and carcinogenesis: A systematic review of oncostatic mechanisms associated with melatonin pathways

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Exposure to artificial light at night (ALAN), particularly at blue wavelengths, disrupts circadian rhythms by suppressing melatonin, thereby increasing cancer susceptibility. This systematic review consolidates evidence linking prolonged ALAN exposure to an elevated risk of breast and prostate tumors.

Effects of photobiomodulation therapy on pulmonary inflammation in chronic asthma: Dosimetric study in an experimental model

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) was evaluated across a radiant energy range (1–7.5 J) in a murine model of chronic ovalbumin‐induced asthma to identify the optimal therapeutic dose. PBMT attenuated airway inflammation and remodelling, suppressed Th2 cytokines, and enhanced regulatory immune responses, highlighting a dose‐dependent immunomodulatory ...

The zebrafish model to identify new genes involved in thyroid development

open access: yes, 2010
Thyroid organogenesis is a very complex developmental process that leads to the formation of an organ able to produce specific hormones through specification, migration, structural organization and functional differentiation of thyroid precursor cells ...

Inflammation and mechanical force‐induced bone remodeling

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Periodontitis arises from imbalanced host–microbe interactions, leading to dysbiosis and destructive inflammation. The host's innate and adaptive immune responses produce pro‐inflammatory mediators that stimulate destructive events, which cause loss of alveolar bone and connective tissue attachment.

Antibiotic‐mediated immune modulation in periodontitis

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting the supporting structures of the teeth. Although initiated by dysbiotic microbial communities, its progression is largely driven by the host's uncontrolled inflammatory response. While antibiotics have conventionally been employed in periodontitis therapy for their antimicrobial ...
