Main‐chain polyfullerenes: Taking fullerene to the next dimension

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
This short review appraises main‐chain polyfullerenes. Their slow development over 30 years has suddenly boomed with a rapid growth due to exciting developments in solar energy. Abstract This mini‐review gives an overview of the development, chemistry, properties and applications of main‐chain polyfullerenes.

Basophils in Immunity: Activation Pathways, Roles in Allergy and AllergoOncology and Application of the Basophil Activation Test

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Basophils, the least abundant leukocytes, are increasingly recognised as potent immunomodulators. Upon activation, they rapidly release preformed granule‐associated mediators including histamine and lipid mediators such as LTC4, while cytokine production occurs over a longer timescale, contributing to downstream immune responses.

Mouse Cathelin-Related Antimicrobial Peptide Chemoattracts Leukocytes Using Formyl Peptide Receptor-Like 1/Mouse Formyl Peptide Receptor-Like 2 as the Receptor and Acts as an Immune Adjuvant [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Immunology, 2005
Abstract Mammalian antimicrobial proteins, such as defensins and cathelicidin, have stimulating effects on host leukocytes. Cathelin-related antimicrobial peptide (CRAMP), the orthologue of human cathelicidin/LL-37, is the sole identified murine cathelicidin.

Prebiotic aqueous reactions catalyzed by native nickel without hydrogen

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Serpentinizing (H2‐producing) hydrothermal vents are candidate environments for metabolic origin. They generate highly reducing conditions that convert CO2 to formate and methane in abiotic reactions resembling reactions of the acetyl‐CoA pathway of CO2 fixation. They also contain natural catalysts. Native nickel (Ni0), like Fe0, Co0, and their alloys,

Formyl peptide receptor 1 and its antagonist T0080 in atherosclerosis

open access: yesCell Death & Differentiation
Focal inflammation and arterial damage driven by macrophages are key pathogenic processes in atherosclerosis. However, the mechanisms that regulate these processes remain poorly understood. In this study, we demonstrate that formyl peptide receptor 1 (FPR1) agonist, a mitochondrial N-formyl peptide, is elevated in the blood of patients with ...

Systemic, Lifestyle and Environmental Modifying Factors in the Pathogenesis of Periodontitis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
A variety of impacting factors in the pathogenesis of periodontitis exist, including systemic, lifestyle, and environmental factors. This review highlights the manifold mechanistic aspects of the link between the pathogenesis of periodontitis, addressing these numerous factors to supplement the long‐standing knowledge of the progression of the disease.

Temporin A and Related Frog Antimicrobial Peptides Use Formyl Peptide Receptor-Like 1 as a Receptor to Chemoattract Phagocytes [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Immunology, 2004
Abstract Many mammalian antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have multiple effects on antimicrobial immunity. We found that temporin A (TA), a representative frog-derived AMP, induced the migration of human monocytes, neutrophils, and macrophages with a bell-shaped response curve in a pertussis toxin-sensitive manner, activated p44/42 MAPK ...

Deficiency of formyl peptide receptor 1 and 2 is associated with increased inflammation and enhanced liver injury after LPS-stimulation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Formyl peptide-receptor 1 and 2 (FPR1 and FPR2) in mice were identified as receptors with contrary affinity for the PAMP fMLF. Formyl-methionyl-leucyl-phenylalanine is either part of the bacterial membrane and is secreted by the mitochondria of ...

Targeting progressive multiple sclerosis: Toward mechanism‐informed precision medicine

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, Volume 300, Issue 3, Page 238-257, September 2026.
Abstract Multiple sclerosis has undergone a therapeutic revolution over the past three decades. Randomized clinical trials and real‐world data demonstrate that modern disease‐modifying therapies substantially reduce relapse rates and acute inflammatory activity detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Synthesis of β‐Thiolated Amino Acids: Investigation Toward the Total Chemical Synthesis of Lasso Peptide Microcin J25

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
Lasso peptide, Microcin J25 (MccJ25), exhibits extreme stability and potent antibacterial activity against Gram‐negative bacteria due to its rigid “lariat” structure. However, this unique topology precludes researchers to achieve the total chemical synthesis. Herein, we investigated the chemical synthetic prestapling strategy toward synthesis of MccJ25
