Circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA) comprises DNA fragments released into bodily fluids via apoptosis, necrosis, or phagocytosis. cfDNA encapsulates both fragmentomics (structural) and non-fragmentomics (sequence/epigenetic) information from source cells, thereby representing a promising biomarker.
