Performance of three commercial lipases in a model enzyme modified cheese system : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Technology in Food Technology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The effects of Amano 'R' (from Penicillium roqueforti), Palatase (from Mucor miehei) and kid lipase (from kid goat) activity on hydrolysis of triglycerides in a constant enzyme modified cheese (EMC) base have been investigated.

Comparison of Epicardial Adipose Tissue Fatty Acid Profile in Cardiovascular Disease Patients Diabetic and Non-Diabetic

open access: yesMedical Laboratory Journal, 2016
Background and Objective: The relationship between diabetes mellitus and increased risk of cardiovascular diseases has been demonstrated. The aim of this study was to determine the fatty acid profile of epicardial adipose tissue in diabetic and non ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Colorimetric Microdetermination of Free Fatty Acids

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 1973
Abstract A colorimetric method for determination of free fatty acids has been developed, based on the estimation of copper in a chloroform extract of their cupric salts with oxalic acid bis-(cyclohexylidenehydrazide). Contamination with inorganic copper during extraction is practically eliminated by using filter-paper pads.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Lipid breakdown in oil sardine (Sardinella longiceps) during frozen storage [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
The problem of hydrolysis of lipids and consequent accumulation of free fatty acids and development of rancidity due to oxidation of the lipids are major problems in frozen storage of oil sardine (Sardinella longiceps).

Engineering Yarrowia lipolytica as a platform for synthesis of drop-in transportation fuels and oleochemicals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Harnessing lipogenic pathways and rewiring acyl-CoA and acyl-ACP (acyl carrier protein) metabolism in Yarrowia lipolytica hold great potential for cost-efficient production of diesel, gasoline-like fuels, and oleochemicals.

HIV‐1 establishes immediate latency in T cells expressing the viral Nef protein

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Nef is a viral protein often omitted from HIV‐1 reporter viruses. Consequently, its role in viral latency is unclear. We developed three novel dual reporter HIV‐1 derivatives that express Nef and allow for detection of latent and productive infection. Using these reporters, we show that Nef does not affect the establishment of immediate viral latency ...

Unbound free fatty acid levels in human serum.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1995
Total serum free fatty acids (FFAt) levels provide an important measure of the physiologic state. Most of the FFA in serum is bound to albumin; a small portion, however, is unbound.
