Dexamethasone Promotes the Risk of Cardiovascular Disease in High Fructose-exposed Wistar Rats

open access: yesIranian Journal of Toxicology, 2022
Background: Dyslipidemia constitutes a serious public health concern globally. It has been established that excessive fructose intake results in dyslipidemia; however, whether dexamethasone aggravates or alleviates fructose-induced dyslipidemia is ...

Interpolated inverse discrete wavelet transforms in additive and non-additive spectral background correction [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
We demonstrate the applicability of using interpolated inverse discrete wavelet transforms as a general tool for modeling additive or multiplicative background or error signals in spectra. Additionally, we propose an unsupervised way of estimating the optimal wavelet basis along with the model parameters.

Multiparameter quantum estimation of noisy phase shifts [PDF]

open access: yesOptica 5(10), 1171-1176 (2018), 2018
Phase estimation is the most investigated protocol in quantum metrology, but its performance is affected by the presence of noise, also in the form of imperfect state preparation. Here we discuss how to address this scenario by using a multiparameter approach, in which noise is associated to a parameter to be measured at the same time as the phase.

High-Glucose or -Fructose Diet Cause Changes of the Gut Microbiota and Metabolic Disorders in Mice without Body Weight Change

open access: yesNutrients, 2018
High fat diet-induced changes in gut microbiota have been linked to intestinal permeability and metabolic endotoxemia, which is related to metabolic disorders.

Towards the conversion of carbohydrate biomass feedstocks to biofuels via hydroxylmethylfurfural [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This review appraises the chemical conversion processes recently reported for the production of hydroxylmethylfurfural (HMF), a key biorefining intermediate, from carbohydrate biomass feedstocks. Catalytic sites or groups required for the efficient and

Fructose contributes to the Warburg effect for cancer growth

open access: yesCancer & Metabolism, 2020
Obesity and metabolic syndrome are strongly associated with cancer, and these disorders may share a common mechanism. Recently, fructose has emerged as a driving force to develop obesity and metabolic syndrome.

A regenerative antioxidant protocol of vitamin E and alpha-lipoic acid ameliorates cardiovascular and metabolic changes in fructose-fed rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Type 2 diabetes is a major cause of cardiovascular disease. We have determined whether the metabolic and cardiovascular changes induced by a diet high in fructose in young adult male Wistar rats could be prevented or reversed by chronic intervention with

Increased fructose consumption has sex‐specific effects on fibroblast growth factor 21 levels in humans

open access: yesObesity Science & Practice, 2019
Summary Objective Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21), a primarily hepatic hormone with pleotropic metabolic effects, is regulated by fructose in humans.
