Human α1,3/4-Fucosyltransferases [PDF]
An analysis of the acceptor substrate specificity of domain swap mutants of human alpha1,3/4-fucosyltransferases (FucTs) III and V has been carried out. The results demonstrate that changing Asp336 of FucT III to Ala (as in FucT V) produced a protein (III/V1) with a reduced activity with a variety of acceptors.

ABSTRACT Microalgae represent promising production factories for the light‐driven, cost‐effective production of recombinant proteins. The red microalga Porphyridium purpureum displays particularly favourable transgene expression properties due to the episomal maintenance of transformation vectors at high copy numbers in the nucleus.

Trafficking and localization studies of recombinant α1,3-fucosyltransferase VI stably expressed in CHO cells [PDF]
Peripheral α1,3-fucosylation of glycans occurs by the action of either one of five different α1,3-fucosyltransferases (Fuc-Ts) cloned to date. Fuc-TVI is one of the α1,3-fucosyltransferases which is capable to synthesize selectin ligands.

ABSTRACT N‐Glycosylation critically influences the efficacy, safety and pharmacokinetic properties of biopharmaceuticals. Plant expression platforms offer multiple advantages for the production of N‐glycosylated proteins, but their use is impeded by the presence of plant‐specific N‐glycan epitopes, which raise concerns of possible immunogenicity to ...

High‐Throughput Screening for Inhibitors of Sialyl‐ and Fucosyltransferases [PDF]
Sweet screens: A high-throughput screening platform for identification of inhibitors of sialyl- and fucosyltransferases based on fluorescence polarization (FP) has been developed. An analogue of the natural donor substrate carrying a fluorescent label (green star) is transferred to a glycoprotein acceptor, which results in robust FP.

Identification of the Plasticity-Relevant Fucose-α(1−2)-Galactose Proteome from the Mouse Olfactory Bulb [PDF]
Fucose-α(1−2)-galactose [Fucα(1−2)Gal] sugars have been implicated in the molecular mechanisms that underlie neuronal development, learning, and memory. However, an understanding of their precise roles has been hampered by a lack of information regarding

ABSTRACT Plant systems have gained increased attention as an alternative platform for producing heterologous proteins, particularly for industrially relevant proteins. The Cynara cardunculus L. flower extract is traditionally used in cheese production across Mediterranean countries due to its milk‐clotting properties.

The impact of elevation of total bilirubin level and etiology of the liver disease on serum N-glycosylation patterns in mice and men [PDF]
The GlycoFibroTest and GlycoCirrhoTest are noninvasive alternatives for liver biopsy that can be used as a follow-up tool for fibrosis patients and to diagnose cirrhotic patients, respectively.
