Association of Galectin-9 with Eosinophil Apoptosis
International Archives of Allergy and Immunology, 2002Background: There is no information whether galectin-9 (a novel eosinophil chemoattractant) was associated with pathogenesis of eosinophilic disorders. Methods: We assessed the expression of galectin-9 with imunostaining and in situ hybridization both in the lesion of angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia ...

Galectin-9 in tumor biology: A jack of multiple trades
Biochimica Et Biophysica Acta: Reviews on Cancer, 2013Galectin family members have been shown to exert multiple roles in the context of tumor biology. Several recent findings support a similar multi-faceted role for galectin-9. Galectin-9 expression is frequently altered in cancer as compared to normal tissues.

Galectin-9 in physiological and pathological conditions
Glycoconjugate Journal, 2002We first cloned galectin-9 (Gal-9)/ecalectin as a T cell-derived eosinophil chemoattractant. Gal-9 plays a role in not only accumulation but also activation of eosinophils in experimental allergic models and human allergic patients, because Gal-9 induces eosinophil chemoattraction in vitro and in vivo and activates eosinophils in many aspects.

Identification of Galectin 9 and its antibacterial function in yellow drum (Nibea albiflora).
Fish and Shellfish Immunology, 2023Galectins are a family of evolutionarily conserved lectins that contain carbohydrate recognition domains (CRDs) specifically recognizing β-galactoside. Galectin-9 plays a crucial role in various biological processes during pathogenic infections.

Galectin-9 promotes colon cancer development by polarizing macrophages toward the M2 phenotype.
Cancer GeneticsGalectin-9 plays multiple roles in various tumors and exerts immune regulation within the tumor microenvironment. It is closely associated with tumor prognosis. This study aimed to analyze the expression of galectin-9 in the colon tumor microenvironment.

Serum level of galectin-9 as a potential biomarker for high risk of malignancy in dermatomyositis.
Rheumatology, 2023OBJECTIVES Galectin-9, as immune checkpoint protein, plays a role in regulating autoimmunity and tumour immunity. Therefore, we explored the pathophysiological link between galectin-9 and malignancy in cancer-related DM (CRDM). METHODS Serum galectin-9

Expression of Galectin-9-related immune checkpoint receptors in B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Iranian Journal of Basic Medical Sciences, 2023Objective(s): Exhausted CD8+ T-cells over-express immune checkpoint receptors (ICRs), which interact with their ligands on malignant cells. However, some ICRs have been reported to be expressed on both T-cells and tumor cells, including V-domain ...
