Biosynthesis of mushroom-derived type II ganoderic acids by engineered yeast

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
AbstractType II ganoderic acids (GAs) produced by the traditional medicinal mushroom Ganoderma are a group of triterpenoids with superior biological activities. However, challenges in the genetic manipulation of the native producer, low level of accumulation in the farmed mushroom, the vulnerabilities of the farming-based supply chain, and the elusive ...

Development of a CRISPR/Cas9 Genome Editing System in Dikaryotic Ganoderma lucidum for Targeting Key CYP450 Gene Involved in Triterpenoid Synthesis

open access: yesJournal of Fungi
Currently, most research on CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) gene editing in edible fungi focuses on monokaryotic strains.

Development of a Rapid and Confirmatory Method to Identify Ganoderic Acids in Ganoderma Mushrooms [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2012
To examine the composition of lanostanoids in Ganoderma lucidum, we have developed a liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) method by using the ganoderic acids isolated in our laboratory as reference standards. The identity of 14 peaks in the high performance liquid chromatogram (HPLC) of G. lucidum has been confirmed.

Induction of apoptosis and ganoderic acid biosynthesis by cAMP signaling in Ganoderma lucidum [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
AbstractApoptosis is an essential physiological process that controls many important biological functions. However, apoptosis signaling in relation to secondary metabolite biosynthesis in plants and fungi remains a mystery. The fungusGanoderma lucidumis a popular herbal medicine worldwide, but the biosynthetic regulation of its active ingredients ...

Ganoderic Acid DM: An Alternative Agent for the Treatment of Advanced Prostate Cancer [PDF]

open access: yesThe Open Prostate Cancer Journal, 2010
Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men and accounts for significant morbidity and mortality in the western world. While traditional therapies are effective at clearing early stage cancer, they often fail to treat late stage metastatic disease.

Effect of Methyl Jasmonate Elicitation on Triterpene Production and Evaluation of Cytotoxic Activity of Mycelial Culture Extracts of Ganoderma applanatum (Pers.) Pat.

open access: yesPlants, 2023
Abiotic elicitation, a well-known strategy in mushroom biotechnology, promotes increased accumulation of secondary metabolites in mycelial cultures. The study aimed the effects of methyl jasmonate (MeJA) on the production of triterpenes in submerged ...

Performance analyses of a pH-shift and DOT-shift integrated fed-batch fermentation process for the production of ganoderic acid and Ganoderma polysaccharides by medicinal mushroom Ganoderma lucidum

open access: yes, 2009
Investigations on Ganoderma lucidum fermentation suggested that the responses of the cell growth and metabolites biosynthesis to pH and dissolved oxygen tension (DOT) were different. The ganoderic acid (GA) production of 321.6 mg/L was obtained in the pH-

Food and Medicine Homologous Plants in Osteoporosis: A Scoping Review of Preclinical Evidence

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
Food and medicine homologous (FMH) plants and their bioactive compounds exhibit potential osteoprotective effects through multiple complementary mechanisms, including estrogen‐like signaling, attenuation of oxidative stress, modulation of the gut microbiota–bone axis, and regulation of autophagy.
