Biosynthesis of mushroom-derived type II ganoderic acids by engineered yeast
AbstractType II ganoderic acids (GAs) produced by the traditional medicinal mushroom Ganoderma are a group of triterpenoids with superior biological activities. However, challenges in the genetic manipulation of the native producer, low level of accumulation in the farmed mushroom, the vulnerabilities of the farming-based supply chain, and the elusive ...

Development of a Rapid and Confirmatory Method to Identify Ganoderic Acids in Ganoderma Mushrooms [PDF]
To examine the composition of lanostanoids in Ganoderma lucidum, we have developed a liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) method by using the ganoderic acids isolated in our laboratory as reference standards. The identity of 14 peaks in the high performance liquid chromatogram (HPLC) of G. lucidum has been confirmed.

Induction of apoptosis and ganoderic acid biosynthesis by cAMP signaling in Ganoderma lucidum [PDF]
AbstractApoptosis is an essential physiological process that controls many important biological functions. However, apoptosis signaling in relation to secondary metabolite biosynthesis in plants and fungi remains a mystery. The fungusGanoderma lucidumis a popular herbal medicine worldwide, but the biosynthetic regulation of its active ingredients ...

Ganoderic Acid DM: An Alternative Agent for the Treatment of Advanced Prostate Cancer [PDF]
Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men and accounts for significant morbidity and mortality in the western world. While traditional therapies are effective at clearing early stage cancer, they often fail to treat late stage metastatic disease.
