Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Pannexin channels are not gap junction hemichannels

open access: yes, 2011
Pannexins, a class of membrane channels, bear significant sequence homology with the invertebrate gap junction proteins, innexins, and more distant similarities in their membrane topologies and pharmacological sensitivities with the gap junction proteins,

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Role of Gap Junction in Atrial Fibrillation Pathophysiology

open access: yesMajalah Kardiologi Indonesia, 2013
Initiation of atrial fibrillation (AF) occurred when there is a combination of triggering factors (mainly originated from thoracic veins) and arrhytmogenic substrate, such as : reduction of effective refractory period (ERP), increase in refractory ...

Gap junction expression and the effects of gap junction inhibitors in

open access: yes, 2013
In this study, gap junction expression and the effects of estrogen deficiency and gap junction inhibitors were investigated in overactive bladder models which were created by bladder outlet obstruction. In our study, we created four groups as control, ovariectomy, bladder outlet obstruction (BOO), and ovariectomy + BOO.

Gap junction implementation in multicellular 1-D cable.

open access: yes, 2018
(A) three cells is connected by gap junction. (B) Evoked AP (V0) at cell 0 (R0), propagated AP (V1) at Cell 1 via one gap junction (R1), and propagated AP (V2) via two gap junctions (R2).

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

New cellular mechanisms of gap junction degradation and recycling.

open access: yes, 2015
International audienceConnexins (Cx), the constitutive proteins of gap junctions, are key actors of many physiological processes. Therefore alterations of Cx expression and degradation lead to the development of physiopathological disorders.
