Retrotransposon-Mediated Fgf5go-Utr Mutant Mice with Long Pelage Hair [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We found 6 spontaneous mutant mice with long pelage hair in our ICR breeding colony. The abnormal trait was restricted to long hair in these mice, which we named moja. They were fertile and showed the same growth and behavior as wild-type mice.

Caspase-1 activates gasdermin A in non-mammals

open access: yeseLife
Gasdermins oligomerize to form pores in the cell membrane, causing regulated lytic cell death called pyroptosis. Mammals encode five gasdermins that can trigger pyroptosis: GSDMA, B, C, D, and E.

In vivoresponse of GsdmA3Dfl/+ mice to topically applied fish oil - effects on cellular markers and macrophages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Psoriasis is an incurable autoimmune disease characterized by patches of abnormal red, itchy and scaly skin. This work examined the modulation of inflammation, hyperproliferation and immune cell markers following topical application of fish oil (FO) in ...

MCC950/CRID3 potently targets the NACHT domain of wild-type NLRP3 but not disease-associated mutants for inflammasome inhibition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The nucleotide-binding-domain (NBD)-and leucine-rich repeat (LRR)-containing (NLR) family, pyrin-domain-containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome drives pathological inflammation in a suite of autoimmune, metabolic, malignant, and neurodegenerative diseases ...

Chemical chaperone TUDCA prevents apoptosis and improves survival during polymicrobial sepsis in mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Sepsis-induced lymphopenia is a major cause of morbidities in intensive care units and in populations with chronic conditions such as renal failure, diabetes, HIV and alcohol abuse.

Genes and Pathways Regulating Decline in Lung Function and Airway Remodeling in Asthma. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Asthma is a common disorder of the airways characterized by airway inflammation and by decline in lung function and airway remodeling in a subset of asthmatics.

CARD9 negatively regulates NLRP3-induced IL-1β production on Salmonella infection of macrophages. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) is a proinflammatory cytokine required for host control of bacterial infections, and its production must be tightly regulated to prevent excessive inflammation.

Deciphering the complex signalling systems that regulate intestinal epithelial cell death processes and shedding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Intestinal epithelial cells play a fundamental role in maintaining homeostasis. Shedding of intestinal cells in a controlled manner is critical to maintenance of barrier function.

Proinflammatory GSDMD activation in live macrophages and DLBCL cells marks cognate interactions and better prognosis

open access: yesBlood Advances
: Pyroptosis is a form of programmed cell death characterized by the cleavage of the gasdermin (GSDM) family proteins that form pores in the plasma membrane, cell rupture, and the release of proinflammatory cytokines.

Ubiquitin-independent degradation of Bim blocks macrophage pyroptosis in sepsis-related tissue injury

open access: yesCell Death and Disease
Pyroptosis, a typical inflammatory cell death mode, has been increasingly demonstrated to have therapeutic value in inflammatory diseases such as sepsis. However, the mechanisms and therapeutic targets of sepsis remain elusive.
