Gastric digestion of cow and goat milk proteins: impact of different in vitro digestion conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Many infants and young children are fed nutritional milk formulas. Although these products are commonly based on cow milk, goat milk provides an alternative.

A multi-center peptidomic investigation of simulated gastrointestinal food digestion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Background: Mass spectrometry has become the techniques of choice for the simultaneous assessment of a high variety of molecules in complex matrices. For this reason, it is best suited for precisely monitoring the evolution of digestive processes in vivo

Enhancing CAR‐T Cell Efficacy in Solid Tumors by Inhibiting CCL5/VEGF‐Mediated Angiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that CAR‐T cells in solid tumors produce CCL5, which paradoxically induces VEGF and angiogenesis to promote tumor growth. Blocking CCL5/VEGF signaling—through gene knockout, or the CCR5 inhibitor maraviroc—significantly enhances the antitumor efficacy of CAR‑T therapy (the diagram was created in Biorender).

Modeling of Pathogen Survival during Simulated Gastric Digestion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The objective of the present study was to develop a mathematical model of pathogenic bacterial inactivation kinetics in a gastric environment in order to further understand a part of the infectious dose-response mechanism. The major bacterial pathogens

A Chirality‐Converted Bacteriolytic Dodecapeptide Regulates Vibrio‐Induced Polymicrobial Infection and Ameliorates Invasion‐Associated Gut Microbiota Disequilibrium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multidrug‐resistant Vibrio infections are rising rapidly and threaten coastal populations worldwide. This study introduces D‐zp37, a chirality‐engineered antimicrobial peptide with exceptional potency against resistant Vibrio species. D‐zp37 kills planktonic cells, blocks mixed‐species biofilms, disrupts essential bacterial stress responses, and shows ...

Investigation into IgG/IgE binding capacity and gut microbiota of digestion products derived from glycated ovalbumin

open access: yesFood Science and Human Wellness
Gut microbiota plays an important role in food allergy. The immunoglobulin G (IgG)/immunoglobulin E (IgE) binding capacity and human gut microbiota changes of digestion products derived from glycated ovalbumin (OVA) were investigated.

S100A14 in Tumor‐Derived EVs Targets PIAS3 to Reprogram Astrocytes and Induce Immunosuppressive Microenvironment Promoting Brain Metastasis and Germacrone Reversal Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies S100A14 in tumor‐derived exosomes as a key driver of brain metastasis. S100A14 targets PIAS3 in astrocytes, activating STAT3 signaling and promoting immunosuppressive MDSCs recruitment via chemokine secretion. Germacrone, a natural compound, binds S100A14 to disrupt this axis, effectively inhibiting brain metastasis with low ...

Physical Changes in White and Brown Rice during Simulated Gastric Digestion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Previous studies have shown that brown rice generates lower glycemic responses than white rice, a trait that may be beneficial in the dietary management of chronic diseases such as diabetes and hyperlipidemia.
