Occasion and audience as poetic constructs in early modern occasional poetry
Abstract Occasional poetry, composed for specific events such as weddings or funerals, was a dominant form of poetry in early modern Europe. Despite its historical prominence, the role of the occasion as a literary and rhetorical construct in occasional poetry has been very little studied.

Expression levels of th-2 and th-17 characteristic genes in healthy tissue versus periodontitis.
The T helper 17 (Th17) cells have been suggested to have osteoclast activating effects while T helper 2 (Th2) cells are considered to have an osteoprotective role in periodontitis.

Compound A induces GATA-3 phosphorylation and nuclear translocation.
A, EL4 cells were transfected with 15 µg of the GR and 15 µg of GATA-3 expression vectors. After 16 h in culture, EL4 cells were pretreated during 30 minutes with or without Compound A (CpdA, 10 µM) and then treated under basal or activated conditions ...

Effects of Atmospheric CO2 Levels on the Susceptibility of Maize to Diverse Pathogens
ABSTRACT Rising atmospheric CO2 has significant implications for crop productivity and food security. Based on studies in C3 plants, elevated CO2 (eCO2) can shape plant‐pathogen interactions, although the outcomes are often variable. The question of how eCO2 influences immunity and disease development in C4 plants, such as the globally important cereal

Translating gut microbiome research into therapies for type 1 diabetes
Abstract Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is characterised by the loss of functional pancreatic β‐cells, for which lifelong insulin therapy remains the standard of care. Given that the gut microbiome can influence host health and that shifts in gut microbial profiles have been observed in T1D, growing interest has emerged in the role of the gut microbiome in T1D,

ABSTRACT Resistance to chemotherapy, which is demonstrated in almost every patient with advanced‐stage lung cancer (ALC), underscores an urgent need to unravel the underlying molecular mechanisms and identify novel strategies to overcome drug resistance. In the present study, an attempt was made to identify epigenetic targets and modulators that can be
