Genome-Wide Methylation and Gene Expression Changes in Newborn Rats following Maternal Protein Restriction and Reversal by Folic Acid. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A large body of evidence from human and animal studies demonstrates that the maternal diet during pregnancy can programme physiological and metabolic functions in the developing fetus, effectively determining susceptibility to later disease.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Zebrafish rest regulates developmental gene expression but not neurogenesis [PDF]

open access: yesDevelopment, 2012
The transcriptional repressor Rest (Nrsf) recruits chromatin-modifying complexes to RE1 ‘silencer elements’, which are associated with hundreds of neural genes. However, the requirement for Rest-mediated transcriptional regulation of embryonic development and cell fate is poorly understood. Conflicting views of the role of Rest in controlling cell fate

Differential Gene Expression and Protein Abundance Evince Ontogenetic Bias toward Castes in a Primitively Eusocial Wasp

open access: yes, 2010
Polistes paper wasps are models for understanding conditions that may have characterized the origin of worker and queen castes and, therefore, the origin of paper wasp sociality.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Distinguishing epigenetic marks of developmental and imprinting regulation

open access: yesEpigenetics & Chromatin, 2010
Background The field of epigenetics is developing rapidly, however we are only beginning to comprehend the complexity of its influence on gene regulation.

GSTCD and INTS12 Regulation and Expression in the Human Lung [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) meta-analyses have identified a strong association signal for lung function, which maps to a region on 4q24 containing two oppositely transcribed genes: glutathione S-transferase, C-terminal domain containing (GSTCD ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Spatiotemporal expression patterns of cytosolic AtHSP90-2 in Arabidopsis seedlings

open access: yesPlant Signaling & Behavior, 2023
Heat shock protein AtHSP90–2 is one of the three constitutive cytosolic HSP90s of Arabidopsis thaliana, which are highly homologous and show mild expression activation in response to stressful impacts.

Gene Expression Modifications by Temperature-Toxicants Interactions in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yes, 2011
Although organophosphorus pesticides (OP) share a common mode of action, there is increased awareness that they elicit a diverse range of gene expression responses.
