Fibroblast Growth Factor-Mediated Growth Regulation and Receptor Expression in Embryonal Carcinoma and Embryonic Stem Cells and Human Germ Cell Tumors

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1993
FGFs have been implicated in the induction of mesoderm in amphibian development and are present in the mouse embryo at stages that would be appropriate for a similar function in mammals. Primitive ectoderm would then be the target tissue. We have now changes in the expression of receptors for FGFs during the differentiation of embryonal carcinoma (EC ...

Effects of Irradiation on Germ Cells and Embryonic Development in Teleosts

1979
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the effects of irradiation on germ cells and embryonic development in teleosts. Sterility and weight reduction of testes after irradiation are mainly because of actual cell loss, and the order of decreasing sensitivity of spermatogenic cells is from the most sensitive spermatogonia, through primary and ...

[Isolation and culture of human pluripotent embryonic germ cells].

Shi yan sheng wu xue bao, 2010
To establish human pluripotent embryonic germ (EG) cell lines, human primordial germ cells (PGCs) of embryos aborted in 5-9 week were cultured on inactive mouse STO fibroblast feeder. The medium contained human leukemia inhibitory factor (hLIF), human basic fibroblast growth factor (hbFGF) and forskolin.

Establishment and differentiation of human embryonic stem cell derived germ cells.

Society of Reproduction and Fertility supplement, 2007
Germ cells are absolutely essential for fertility. Aberrant germ cell development can result in abnormal gonadal function, incomplete embryogenesis and infertility, or germ cell tumors. Our understanding of the molecular regulation of normal germ cell development in mammals has progressed significantly due to the utility of the mouse as a genetic model
