The uptake and metabolism of ginsenoside Rh2 (Rh2) by B16 melanoma cells were studied. In a medium containing 2% fetal calf serum, the uptake of Rh2 reached a maximum of 3 nmol/10(6) cells at 3-6 h after Rh2 (12.5 microM) was added, but gradually decreased to 0.8 nmol/10(6) cells.

Role of ginsenoside Rh2 in tumor therapy and tumor microenvironment immunomodulation
Ginsenoside Rh2 (Rh2), the major bio-active ginsenoside that originated from the root of Panax ginseng, has become a "hot topic" for playing multifunctional roles in both tumor treatment and tumor microenvironment (TME) immunomodulation. Up to now, emerging experimental research about Rh2 in tumor therapy and immuno-regulation has been published ...

Treatment of Stress Urinary Incontinence by Ginsenoside Rh2
The American Journal of Chinese Medicine, 2014Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a common disorder in middle-aged women and the elderly. Although surgical treatment of SUI has progressed, there are no effective pharmacological therapies without a side effect. We studied the effect of ginsenoside Rh2 against SUI.

Advances in Ginsenoside Rh2 and Its Derivatives
World Science and Technology, 2012Abstract Ginsenoside Rh2, one of the characteristic components in red ginseng (roots steamed at 98-100 °C without peeling), is a rare ginsenoside with potential bioactivity. The preparation of ginsenoside Rh2 was studied by using acid hydrolysis, alkaline hydrolysis, synthesis and biotransformation techniques.

Preparation and bioactivity of the rare ginsenosides Rg3 and Rh2: An updated review
Fitoterapia, 2023Ginseng, an ancient medicinal herb, is used in oriental medicine for the treatment of various diseases. Saponins are the main bioactive components of ginseng, but the multiple glucosyl side chains on its molecules prevent ginsenosides from entering the blood through the intestinal membrane, thus reducing the efficacy.

Microbial transformation of ginsenoside Rg3 to ginsenoside Rh2 by Esteya vermicola CNU 120806
World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2011In the present investigation, we successfully employed a cell-free extract of Esteya vermicola CNU 120806 to convert ginsenoside Rg3 to Rh2. Three important factors including pH, temperature and substrate concentration were optimized for the preparation of Rh(2). The optimal condition was obtained as follows: 50°C, pH 5.0 and substrate concentration of

Effect of Ginsenoside-Rh2 and Curcurbitacin-B on Cryptosporidium parvum in vitro
Experimental Parasitology, 2020Ginsenoside-Rh2 and cucurbitacin-B (CuB) are secondary metabolites of Ginseng (Panax ginseng) and Cucurbitaceae plants respectively. We assessed the anticryptosporidial activity of these two functional compounds in a cell culture model of cryptosporidiosis.

Synthesis and anti-cancer cell activity of pseudo-ginsenoside Rh2
Steroids, 2014β-d-Glucopyranoside,(3β,12β,20E)-12,25-dihydroxydammar-20(22)-en-3-yl (pseudo-ginsenoside Rh2) and its 20Z-isomer were synthesized from ginsenoside Rh2 under a mild condition, via a simple three-step called acetylation, elimination-addition and saponification.

Production of bioactive ginsenosides Rh2 and Rg3 by metabolically engineered yeasts
Metabolic Engineering, 2015Ginsenosides Rh2 and Rg3 represent promising candidates for cancer prevention and therapy and have low toxicity. However, the concentrations of Rh2 and Rg3 are extremely low in the bioactive constituents (triterpene saponins) of ginseng. Despite the available heterologous biosynthesis of their aglycone (protopanaxadiol, PPD) in yeast, production of Rh2
