Globozoospermia is associated with chromatin structure abnormalities: Case report [PDF]
A recent study has shown normal sperm chromatin structure in a patient with globozoospermia. However, the poor success rate following intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) with the use of this sperm suggests that sperm nuclear abnormalities may be present.

Globozoospermia syndrome: An update
Andrologia, 2019Among the factors involved in male infertility, there is a rare morphology disorder called "globozoospermia" that is classified into total globozoospermia and partial globozoospermia (type I and type II, respectively). This syndrome is primarily characterised by the presence of round-headed spermatozoa with cytoskeleton defects around the nucleus and ...

Globozoospermia Syndrome : Two Case Reports
Lebanese Medical Journal, 2014Globozoospermia is a rare but severe cause of male infertility. The presence of 100% round-headed spermatozoa and lack of acrosome are the diagnostic criteria of total globozoospermia. The pathogenesis of globozoospermia most probably originates in spermiogenesis, specifically in acrosome formation and sperm head elongation.

Chromatin Structure in Globozoospermia: A Case Report
Journal of Andrology, 2001ABSTRACT: Sperm nuclear abnormalities in patients with globozoospermia have not been well characterized and may lead to the high rates of fertilization failure and embryo loss reported in patients with this form of teratozoospermia. This study used transmission electron microscopy (TEM), the sperm chromatin structure assay (SCSA), and single cell gel ...

Association between total globozoospermia and sperm chromatin defects
Andrologia, 2017Globozoospermia is a severe sperm morphological anomaly leading to primary infertility and low fertilisation following intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). This phenotype is observed in less than 0.1% of infertile men and is determined by small, round-headed spermatozoa with absence of an acrosomal cap, acrosome protease and also cytoskeletal ...
