Purification from Placenta, Amino Acid Sequence, Structure Comparisons and cDNA Cloning of Human Glutaredoxin

open access: yes, 1995
Glutaredoxin is generally a glutathione-dependent hydrogen donor for ribonucleotide reductase and also catalyses general glutathione (GSH)-disulfide-oxidoreduction reactions in the presence of NADPH and glutathione reductase.

Serial Spatial Transcriptomes Reveal Regulatory Transitions in Maize Leaf Development

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 5, Page 2787-2810, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Plant leaves originate from the shoot apical meristem (SAM) and undergo a developmental process of highly coordinated gene expression regulation. To date, only a few key regulators have been identified and characterised, so the gene expression cascades responsible for leaf cell specification and differentiation from SAM remain largely elusive.

Arabidopsis Glutaredoxin S17 Contributes to Vegetative Growth, Mineral Accumulation, and Redox Balance during Iron Deficiency

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2017
Iron (Fe) is an essential mineral nutrient and a metal cofactor required for many proteins and enzymes involved in the processes of DNA synthesis, respiration, and photosynthesis.

Vertebrate-specific glutaredoxin is essential for brain development

open access: yes, 2011
Cellular functions and survival are dependent on a tightly controlled redox potential. Currently, an increasing amount of data supports the concept of local changes in the redox environment and specific redox signaling events controlling cell function ...

Stress Granule‐Associated ZmCTU2 Confers Thermotolerance in Maize via Coordinated Regulation of Proteostasis and ROS Homeostasis

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 5, Page 3371-3390, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The escalating global temperatures and intensifying heat stress events pose significant threats to maize productivity worldwide. Uncovering key thermotolerance genes and their functional mechanisms is thus critical for developing climate‐resilient crops.

NMR structure of oxidized glutaredoxin 3 from Escherichia coli

open access: yes, 2000
A high precision NMR structure of oxidized glutaredoxin 3 [C65Y] from Escherichia coli has been determined. The conformation of the active site including the disulphide bridge is highly similar to those in glutaredoxins from pig liver and T4 phage.

Molecular Mapping of Functionalities in the Solution Structure of Reduced Grx4, a Monothiol Glutaredoxin from Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The ubiquitous glutaredoxin protein family is present in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes, and is closely related to the thioredoxins, which reduce their substrates using a dithiol mechanism as part of the cellular defense against oxidative stress ...

Natural Negative Feedback Loops Confer Indica‐Japonica Differentiation for Grain Size Homeostasis in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 19, 2 April 2026.
This study reveals the genetic and molecular mechanisms controlling grain size homeostasis through fine‐tuning OsGRX8 self‐expression by two natural negative feedback loops functioning in redox‐dependent or ‐independent manners and identifies two self‐regulatory haplotypes (SRHs) for the subspecies differentiation in rice.

Identifying Ortholog Selective Fragment Molecules for Bacterial Glutaredoxins by NMR and Affinity Enhancement by Modification with an Acrylamide Warhead

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Illustrated here is the development of a new class of antibiotic lead molecules targeted at Pseudomonas aeruginosa glutaredoxin (PaGRX). This lead was produced to (a) circumvent efflux-mediated resistance mechanisms via covalent inhibition while (b ...
