Reactivity of Glutaredoxins 1, 2, and 3 fromEscherichia coli Shows That Glutaredoxin 2 Is the Primary Hydrogen Donor to ArsC-catalyzed Arsenate Reduction [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1999
In Escherichia coli ArsC catalyzes the reduction of arsenate to arsenite using GSH with glutaredoxin as electron donors. E. coli has three glutaredoxins: 1, 2, and 3, each with a classical -Cys-Pro-Tyr-Cys- active site. Glutaredoxin 2 is the major glutathione disulfide oxidoreductase in E. coli, but its function remains unknown.

Role of glutathione, glutathione transferase, and glutaredoxin in regulation of redox-dependent processes

open access: yes, 2020
Over the last decade fundamentally new features have been revealed for the participation of glutathione and glutathione-dependent enzymes (glutathione transferase and glutaredoxin) in cell proliferation, apoptosis, protein folding, and cell signaling ...

Neutrophil Extracellular Traps in Atherosclerosis and Cardiovascular Disease

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
NETs as integrated effectors in the atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease continuum. Activated neutrophils release NETs that promote endothelial injury, thrombo‐inflammation, and plaque destabilization throughout atherosclerotic disease progression. Created with BioRender.com.

Glutathione- and glutaredoxin-dependent reduction of methionine sulfoxide reductase A

open access: yes, 2012
A natural fusion occurring between two tandemly repeated glutaredoxin (Grx) modules and a methionine sulfoxide reductase A (MsrA) has been detected in Gracilaria gracilis.

The E3 Ubiquitin Ligases SINA3 and SINA5 Control DEP2 Ubiquitination and Proteasomal Degradation to Regulate Grain Size and Weight in Rice

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 10, Page 5483-5497, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Grain size is a critical agronomic trait, yet the molecular mechanisms governing its determination in crops remain incompletely understood. While recent studies revealed that OsRING80 facilitates DENSE AND ERECT PANICLE 2 (DEP2) degradation to mediate immunity without impacting growth and development, our work identifies a distinct regulatory ...

A novel CsRNF‐CsHSF24‐CsF3′5′H2 module regulates epigallocatechin gallate biosynthesis in Camellia sinensis

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 128, Issue 1, October 2026.
Significance Statement While the biosynthetic pathway of tea catechins is well established, how post‐translational modifications govern this process has remained elusive. This study uncovers a regulatory module in which the E3 ubiquitin ligase CsRNF targets the transcription factor CsHSF24 for degradation, thereby controlling expression of the key ...

Novel Glutaredoxin Gene in Soybean Responds to Aluminum Toxicity in Soil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Oxidative stress generated by aerobic metabolism or from environmental sources is a major cause of damage to organisms. Aluminum is a major toxin in acidic soils and one proposed source of oxidative stress.

Purification from Placenta, Amino Acid Sequence, Structure Comparisons and cDNA Cloning of Human Glutaredoxin

open access: yes, 1995
Glutaredoxin is generally a glutathione-dependent hydrogen donor for ribonucleotide reductase and also catalyses general glutathione (GSH)-disulfide-oxidoreduction reactions in the presence of NADPH and glutathione reductase.

Inherited microcytic anemias due to disorders of iron and heme metabolism: An updated clinical review

open access: yesHemaSphere, Volume 10, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Microcytic anemia is among the most common hematological abnormalities in clinical practice and is usually attributable to iron deficiency, thalassemia traits, or anemia of inflammation. A small but clinically important subset of patients, however, has inherited disorders of iron metabolism or heme synthesis presenting with persistent ...
