Fasting and Refeeding Mediated Phospholipid Remodeling Plays an Important Role in Improving Meat Quality of Aged Laying Hens

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explored fasting‐induced physiological remodeling effects on meat quality in aged laying hens. Fasting for 15 days (F15) significantly reduced abdominal fat, intermuscular fat width, subcutaneous fat thickness, and liver index versus pre‐fasting (F0) (p < 0.05), which recovered post‐refeeding.

Biophysical characterization of α-glucan nanoparticles encapsulating feruloylated soy glycerides (FSG)

open access: yesBiotechnology Reports, 2023
Water insoluble α-glucans that were enzymatically synthesized using glucansucrase that was cloned from Leuconostoc mesenteroides NRRL B-1118 were previously shown to form nanoparticles via high pressure homogenization.

ZnO/ionic liquid catalyzed biodiesel production from renewable and waste lipids as feedstocks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A new protocol for biodiesel production is proposed, based on a binary ZnO/TBAI (TBAI = tetrabutylammonium iodide) catalytic system. Zinc oxide acts as a heterogeneous, bifunctional Lewis acid/base catalyst, while TBAI plays the role of phase transfer ...

Enzymatic synthesis of acylglycerides from agroindustrial residues: process design and simplified techno‐economic assessment

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract This study developed an enzymatic process to add value to palm oil fatty acid distillate (PFAD) and glycerol, resulting in the production of monoacylglycerides (MAG) and diacylglycerides (DAG). The biocatalyst loading (Novozym 435) and molar ratio of reagents were evaluated to obtain a suitable reaction condition in terms of space–time yield ...

Separation of Free Glycerol and Glycerides from Biodiesel by Means of Liquid-Liquid Extraction

open access: yes, 2017
This paper investigates glycerol and glycerides extraction process from fresh and waste sunflower oil biodiesel. Deep eutectic solvent choline-chloride: ethylene-glycol (molar ratio 1:2.5) was used as extraction media in both batch experiments and ...

Esterification of hydroxy compounds by fatty acid anhydrides

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1964
Partial glycerides are rapidly and completely esterified at room temperature to triglycerides by fatty acid anhydrides in the presence of perchloric acid. This esterification occurs without isomerization of the partial glyceride. As a consequence, by the
