ABSTRACT Given the inevitability of human and animal exposure to acrylamide, there is increasing concern regarding its potential health risks. While a number of molecular mechanisms have been proposed, the complexity of acrylamide toxicological pathways and interactions remains incompletely characterized.

Functional characterization of TMEM86A and TMEM86B mutants by a novel lysoplasmalogenase assay
: Plasmalogens are an abundant class of glycero-phospholipids with a characteristic 1-O-alk-1′-enyl double bond. While their synthesis has been extensively investigated, their degradation remains understudied. Plasmalogen deficiencies are associated with

Cues from the Membrane: Bacterial Glycerophospholipids [PDF]
ABSTRACT In this issue of the Journal of Bacteriology , V. W. Rowlett et al. unveil new Escherichia coli circuitry linking membrane glycerophospholipid (GPL) homeostasis to bacterial stress response and adaptation mechanisms (J Bacteriol 199:e00849-16, 2017, https://doi ...

Genetic differentiation and adaptive evolution of buff‐tailed bumblebees in Asia
This study investigates the genetic differentiation and local adaptation of the buff‐tailed bumblebee (Bombus terrestris) across its European and Asian populations. Using whole‐genome resequencing, we identified distinct genetic differences between populations, with Asian B. terrestris representing a unique genetic resource.

High altitudes are challenging for the animals that inhabit these environments. The Xizang plateau frog (Nanorana parkeri) survives in high‐altitude environments through a synergistic strategy of metabolic remodeling and protein expression adjustment to optimize energy efficiency and enhance cellular protection.

The role of lysophosphatidylcholine acyltransferase 2 in osteoblastic differentiation of C2C12 cells
Glycerophospholipids, a primary component of cellular membranes, play important structural and functional roles in cells. In the remodelling pathway (Lands' cycle), the concerted actions of phospholipase As and lysophospholipid acyltransferases (LPLATs ...

Songorine inhibits mitophagy in chronic heart failure via the TBC1D15/Fis1/Rab7A pathway
Abstract Background and purpose Songorine (SGR) is an alkaloid extracted from Aconitum carichaelii Debx. and has a demonstrated role in cardiac dysfunction. Chronic heart failure (CHF) is a severe clinical syndrome leading to functional impairment and death, primarily due to the deterioration of energy metabolism in cardiomyocytes. However, the precise

Cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabigerol (CBG) alleviate hepatic steatosis in obese mice by shifting energy buffering towards phosphocreatine and enhancing lysosomal lipid degradation and trafficking. These effects are associated with increased creatine kinase activity and lysobisphosphatidic acid (LBPA) levels, highlighting a previously unrecognised ...
