Thirty-Two Years of IEEE VIS: Authors, Fields of Study and Citations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
The IEEE VIS Conference (VIS) recently rebranded itself as a unified conference and officially positioned itself within the discipline of Data Science. Driven by this movement, we investigated (1) who contributed to VIS, and (2) where VIS stands in the scientific world.

Bloch spin waves and emergent structure in protein folding with HIV envelope glycoprotein as an example [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. E 93, 032409 (2016), 2015
We inquire how structure emerges during the process of protein folding. For this we scrutinise col- lective many-atom motions during all-atom molecular dynamics simulations. We introduce, develop and employ various topological techniques, in combination with analytic tools that we deduce from the concept of integrable models and structure of discrete ...

Evidence of blood–brain barrier dysfunction and CSF immunoglobulin synthesis in Down Syndrome Regression Disorder

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives This study sought to evaluate proteomic, metabolomic, and immune signatures in the cerebrospinal fluid of individuals with Down Syndrome Regression Disorder (DSRD). Methods A prospective case–control study comparing proteomic, metabolomic, and immune profiles in individuals with DSRD was performed.

Assessment of concurrent neoplasms and a paraneoplastic association in MOGAD

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract Cases of myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody‐associated disease (MOGAD) co‐occurring with neoplasms have been reported. In this international, retrospective cohort study in South Korea and the USA, 16 of 445 (3.6%) patients with MOGAD had concurrent neoplasm within 2 years of MOGAD onset, resulting in a standardized incidence ...

CSF cytokine, chemokine and injury biomarker profile of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) autoimmunity

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract Defining the CSF cytokine/chemokine and injury biomarker signature of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) autoimmunity can inform immunopathogenesis. CSF GFAP‐IgG‐positive samples (N = 98) were tested for 17 cytokines/chemokines, neurofilament light chain (NfL), and GFAP (ELLA, Bio‐Techne).

UDP‐glucose dehydrogenase variants cause dystroglycanopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract UDP‐glucose dehydrogenase (UGDH) variants have been associated with hypotonia, developmental delay, and epilepsy. We report the first pathologic evidence of dystroglycanopathy in siblings with UGDH variants. Both presented around 6 months with developmental delay and elevated creatinine kinase.

A comparative analysis for SARS-CoV-2 [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
COVID-19 has affected the world tremendously. It is critical that biological experiments and clinical designs are informed by computational approaches for time- and cost-effective solutions. Comparative analyses particularly can play a key role to reveal structural changes in proteins due to mutations, which can lead to behavioural changes, such as the

Deciphering the Protein Motion of S1 Subunit in SARS-CoV-2 Spike Glycoprotein Through Integrated Computational Methods [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a major worldwide public health emergency that has infected over $1.5$ million people. The partially open state of S1 subunit in spike glycoprotein is considered vital for its infection with host cell and is represented as a key target for neutralizing antibodies.

Distinct Network Morphologies from In Situ Polymerization of Microtubules in Giant Polymer‐Lipid Hybrid Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The successful in situ polymerization of microtubules in giant polymer‐lipid hybrid vesicles is illustrated. The microtubules formed in the giant hybrid vesicles exhibit different morphologies including lumenal network formation and membrane association. Abstract Creating artificial cells with a dynamic cytoskeleton, akin to those in living cells, is a
