Glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-Anchored Proteins.

open access: yesBiological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2002
From the numerous studies developed at the last quarter of the 20th century, glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor has been established as a unique mode of protein binding to the plasma membrane. The core structure of this anchor consists of ethanolamine phosphate, trimannoside, glucosamine and inositol phospholipid in this order.

Insulin-induced glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) binding to red cell membrane proteins [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2002
In this work GPI binding to membrane proteins from erythrocytes of insulinoma patients for whom prolonged hyperinsulinism and hypoglycemia were characteristic, as well as from normal erythrocytes incubated with supraphysiological concentrations of ...

Targeting the GPI transamidase subunit GPAA1 abrogates the CD24 immune checkpoint in ovarian cancer

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: CD24 is frequently overexpressed in ovarian cancer and promotes immune evasion by interacting with its receptor Siglec10, present on tumor-associated macrophages, providing a “don’t eat me” signal that prevents targeting and phagocytosis by ...

Structural insights into the inhibition mechanism of fungal GWT1 by manogepix

open access: yesNature Communications
Glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) acyltransferase is crucial for the synthesis of GPI-anchored proteins. Targeting the fungal glycosylphosphatidylinositol acyltransferase GWT1 by manogepix is a promising antifungal strategy.
