Associating bovine herpesvirus 1 envelope glycoprotein gD with activated phospho-PLC-γ1(S1248)
Phospholipase C gamma 1 (PLC-γ1) may locate at distinct subcellular locations, such as cytosol, plasma membrane, and nucleus for varied biological functions.

Mesoscale computational studies of membrane bilayer remodeling by curvature-inducing proteins [PDF]
Biological membranes constitute boundaries of cells and cell organelles. Physico-chemical mechanisms at the atomic scale are dictated by protein-lipid interaction strength, lipid composition, lipid distribution in the vicinity of the protein, shape and amino acid composition of the protein, and its amino acid contents.

The role of SMLR1 in lipid metabolism (high fat + cholesterol diet in mice) Abstract Background and Aims The assembly and secretion of VLDL from the liver, a pathway that affects hepatic and plasma lipids, remains incompletely understood. We set out to identify players in the VLDL biogenesis pathway by identifying genes that are co‐expressed with the ...

The Curious Status of the Golgi Apparatus [PDF]
The available evidence suggests the following working hypotheses. (1) COPII vesicles fuse to form ERGIC clusters, which fuse in turn to form a new Golgi cisterna. (2) Each cisterna progresses through the stack and ultimately fragments into transport vesicles. (3) All resident Golgi proteins are continually recycled via retrograde vesicles.

Golgi apparatus self-organizes into the characteristic shape via postmitotic reassembly dynamics
Significance To date, there is no experimental method for examination of detailed morphological dynamics of a cellular organelle, because of the small size.

The Golgi apparatus acts as a platform for TBK1 activation after viral RNA sensing
After viral infection and the stimulation of some pattern-recognition receptors, TANK-binding kinase I (TBK1) is activated by K63-linked polyubiquitination followed by trans-autophosphorylation.

Dynamic responsiveness of self‐assembling peptide‐based nano‐drug systems
This review discusses dynamically responsive self‐assembling peptide‐based nano‐drug systems, including the stimulation response, strategy of biomimicry, subcellular internalization, and the applications of peptide nano‐drug materials, and concludes with a brief outlook of their challenges and opportunities in clinical translation.

Bridging the gap between glycosylation and vesicle traffic
Glycosylation is recognised as a vitally important posttranslational modification. The structure of glycans that decorate proteins and lipids is largely dictated by biosynthetic reactions occurring in the Golgi apparatus.

Stochastic model of T Cell repolarization during target elimination (I) [PDF]
Cytotoxic T lymphocytes (T) and natural killer (NK) cells are the main cytotoxic killer cells of the human body to eliminate pathogen-infected or tumorigenic cells (i.e. target cells). Once a NK or T cell has identified a target cell, they form a tight contact zone, the immunological synapse (IS).

Evidence for a Golgi-to-endosome protein sorting pathway in Plasmodium falciparum.
During the asexual intraerythrocytic stage, the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum must traffic newly-synthesized proteins to a broad array of destinations within and beyond the parasite's plasma membrane.
