GPR37 Receptors and Megalencephalic Leukoencephalopathy with Subcortical Cysts

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2022
Megalencephalic leukoencephalopathy with subcortical cysts (MLC) is a rare type of vacuolating leukodystrophy (white matter disorder), which is mainly caused by defects in MLC1 or glial cell adhesion molecule (GlialCAM) proteins. In addition, autoantibodies to GlialCAM are involved in the pathology of multiple sclerosis.

Activation of PI3K/Akt pathway by G protein‐coupled receptor 37 promotes resistance to cisplatin‐induced apoptosis in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesCancer Medicine, 2023
Objectives Lung cancer is a major public health concern and represents the most common cause of cancer‐related death worldwide. Among eukaryotes, the G protein‐coupled receptor (GPCR) family stands as the largest group of membrane proteins.

Parkinson's Disease - Biomarkers, Current and GPR37

open access: yesJournal of Student Research, 2022
Parkinson’s disease, first diagnosed in 1817, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease widely known for its crippling motor symptoms, mainly tremors. The symptoms of Parkinson’s have a large range and differ from patient to patient, but nonetheless, they are crippling.

Deficits in Motor Performance, Neurotransmitters and Synaptic Plasticity in Elderly and Experimental Parkinsonian Mice Lacking GPR37

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging Neuroscience, 2020
Parkinson’s disease (PD) etiology is attributed to aging and the progressive neurodegeneration of dopamine (DA) neurons of substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc).

GPR37 and Related Receptors: Disease Regulation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2023
The vertebrate G protein-coupled receptors 37 and 37-like 1 (GPR37 and GPR37L1) were discovered more than two decades ago, and they have been implicated in various neurological and neurodegenerative diseases, as well as in inflammatory pain and tumorigenesis [...]

GPR37 expression as a prognostic marker in gliomas: a bioinformatics-based analysis

open access: yesAging, 2023
Gliomas are the most frequently diagnosed primary brain tumors, and are associated with multiple molecular aberrations during their development and progression. GPR37 is an orphan G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that is implicated in different physiological pathways in the brain, and has been linked to various malignancies.

GPR37 regulates macrophage phagocytosis and resolution of inflammatory pain [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 2018
The mechanisms of pain induction by inflammation have been extensively studied. However, the mechanisms of pain resolution are not fully understood. Here, we report that GPR37, expressed by macrophages (MΦs) but not microglia, contributes to the resolution of inflammatory pain.

GPR37 and GPR37L1 are receptors for the neuroprotective and glioprotective factors prosaptide and prosaposin [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2013
GPR37 (also known as Pael-R) and GPR37L1 are orphan G protein-coupled receptors that are almost exclusively expressed in the nervous system. We screened these receptors for potential activation by various orphan neuropeptides, and these screens yielded a single positive hit: prosaptide, which promoted the endocytosis of GPR37 and ...

Activation of GPR37 in macrophages confers protection against infection-induced sepsis and pain-like behaviour in mice

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
GPR37 is expressed in macrophages, and has been implicated in resolution of inflammatory pain. Here the authors show that GPR37 can modulate sepsis in several animal models.

Osteocalcin attenuates oligodendrocyte differentiation and myelination via GPR37 signaling in the mouse brain [PDF]

open access: yesScience Advances, 2021
Osteocalcin regulating oligodendrocyte myelination is mediated by GPR37, a novel receptor for osteocalcin in the CNS.
