Cloning of the grass carp growth hormone cDNA

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1989
We have constructed a cDNA library in lamda gt11 using mRNA isolated from the pituitary glands of the grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus). Based on the published sequence of the rainbow trout growth hormone cDNA, we synthesized two oligonucleotide probes.

Synergistic approach in carp polyculture with grass carp as a major component

Aquaculture, 1986
Abstract Using either phosphatic or nitrogenous fertilizers and aquatic weeds, yields of the order of 9.7 – 12.3 kg and 13.5 – 14.7 kg per ha per day were realised in 1981 and 1982, respectively, in carp polyculture at input costs of Rs 1.13-Rs 1.77 (US $ 0.09 – 0.15).

Comparative experiments on starter diets for grass carp and common carp

Aquaculture, 1988
Abstract The influence of different compound diets and live zooplankton on growth and survival of two species of cyprinid larvae was compared. In common carp larvae fed exclusively on dry diets high mortality occurred in most cases; exceptions were fish fed Ewos C 20 starter diet (12%).

Production of Hybrid, Androgenetic, and Gynogenetic Grass Carp and Carp

Transactions of the American Fisheries Society, 1976
Abstract Hybridization, androgenesis, and gynogenesis were studied as potential methods for creating nonreproducing populations of fish. Hybrids from crosses of female grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) X male carp (Cyprinus carpio, Israeli mirrow variety) died during embryonic development.

The polymorphism and haplotype of TLR3 gene in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) and their associations with susceptibility/resistance to grass carp reovirus

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2011
Toll-like receptors (TLRs) have emerged as crucial sensors of invading microbes through recognition of pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) in viruses, bacteria, fungi and protozoa. The polymorphisms in TLRs are closely associated with the resistance to pathogen infections.

Grass Carp Catalase Inhibits Interferon Regulatory Factor‐7 to Promote Grass Carp Reovirus Replication

Journal of Fish Diseases
ABSTRACT Grass carp ( Ctenopharyngodon idellus ) is a vital species in China's aquaculture industry but is highly susceptible to grass carp haemorrhagic disease (GCHD) caused by the grass carp reovirus (GCRV). GCRV infection in Ctenopharyngodon idellus

Zoogeography of the Grass Carp in the United States

Transactions of the American Fisheries Society, 1978
Abstract Since 1963, the grass carp, Ctenopharyngodon idella Val., has spread to at least 35 states through stockings and subsequent dispersal. Grass carp have been found in several major river systems and in areas near research sites. Further spread of the species will probably occur with increased research and stocking of grass carp for weed control.
