Fluorescent proteins as tools to aid protein production
Fluorescent proteins are genetically encoded, highly versatile reporters useful for monitoring various aspects of recombinant protein production. In addition to the widely popular green fluorescent protein (GFP) from Aequorea victoria, a variety of other

Millisecond single-molecule localization microscopy combined with convolution analysis and automated image segmentation to determine protein concentrations in complexly structured, functional cells, one cell at a time [PDF]
We present a single-molecule tool called the CoPro (Concentration of Proteins) method that uses millisecond imaging with convolution analysis, automated image segmentation and super-resolution localization microscopy to generate robust estimates for ...

Green fluorescent protein: A perspective [PDF]
AbstractA brief personal perspective is provided for green fluorescent protein (GFP), covering the period 1994–2011. The topics discussed are primarily those in which my research group has made a contribution and include structure and function of the GFP polypeptide, the mechanism of fluorescence emission, excited state protein transfer, the design of ...

Getting to grips with ammonium
A fluorescent sensor that can monitor levels of extracellular ammonium has been made by using a fused green fluorescent protein to detect conformational changes in ammonium transport proteins.

Protein Transduction Method for Cerebrovascular Disorders [PDF]
Many studies have shown that a motif of 11 consecutive arginines (11R) is one of the most effective protein transduction domains (PTD) for introducing proteins into the cell membrane.

Green‐fluorescent protein mutants with altered fluorescence excitation spectra [PDF]
Using random mutagenesis and visual selection of fluorescent clones, we have isolated a T2031 and a E222G mutant of the Aequorea green‐fluorescent protein. Each mutant has one of the two fluorescence excitation bands of the wild type deleted and retains the other without a wavelength shift.

Photoacid behaviour in a fluorinated green fluorescent protein chromophore:Ultrafast formation of anion and zwitterion states [PDF]
The photophysics of the chromophore of the green fluorescent protein in Aequorea victoria (avGFP) are dominated by an excited state proton transfer reaction.

Variants of Green Fluorescent Protein GFPxm [PDF]
As research progresses, fluorescent proteins useful for optical marking will evolve toward brighter, monomeric forms that are more diverse in color. We previously reported a new fluorescent protein from Aequorea macrodactyla, GFPxm, that exhibited many characteristics similar to wild-type green fluorescent protein (GFP).

Green Fluorescent Protein Expressed in Living Mosquitoes—Without the Requirement of Transformation
Mosquitoes transmit viruses, protozoa and nematodes that are major causes of morbidity and mortality in humans. Details of arthropod anatomy and development, and the replication and development of pathogens in the arthropod vector, have relied upon ...

Time course analysis of sensory axon regeneration in vivo by directly tracing regenerating axons
Most current studies quantify axon regeneration by immunostaining regeneration-associated proteins, representing indirect measurement of axon lengths from both sensory neurons in the dorsal root ganglia and motor neurons in the spinal cord.
