Photosensitizing Au(I) Catalysis With Coumarins

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A Au(I) complex with a tethered coumarin fragment was synthesized and characterized by UV‐vis and emission spectroscopy. Its ability to facilitate photo‐driven cross‐coupling reactions through single‐electron and energy transfer events was evaluated. ABSTRACT Gold catalysis shows versatility in a wide range of challenging transformations, wherein light‐

Successive Azide and DNA Functionalization for Reversible and Controlled Association of Single‐Wall Carbon Nanotubes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A newly synthesized bifunctional azide—diazonium linker allows robust one‐step introduction of azido groups to single‐wall carbon nanotubes. Versatility of the azido groups as reactive handles is demonstrated by further derivatization with 6‐carboxyfluorescein and oligonucleotides.

Synergistic Action of Ascorbic Acid and Readily Accessible NHC^N Ligands for the Oxidation of Gold(I) With Electron‐Rich Aryldiazonium Salts

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The synergic action of ascorbic acid and NHC^N ligands enables Au(I) oxidation with electron‐rich aryldiazonium salts. ABSTRACT The synergistic action of ascorbic acid and NHC^N ligands enables the challenging oxidation of Au(I) with electron‐rich aryldiazonium salts in the absence of a cocatalyst and/or irradiation. EPR, NMR, and x‐ray analyses reveal

Oxidative Generation and Reactivity of the Cyclopropyl Radical From a Martin Silicate

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A photoredox strategy employing Martin silicates enables the oxidative generation and controlled capture of cyclopropyl radicals, including the naked one, long considered challenging intermediates. The method affords functionalized cyclopropanes through both Giese‐type additions and dual nickel/photoredox C(sp3)−C(sp2) cross‐couplings.

Metal‐Ion Regulated Light‐Free Z→E Isomerization of Azobenzene Glycomacrocycle

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Metal ion‐catalyzed Z→E isomerization of photoswitchable azobenzene glycomacrocycle: A new azobenzene‐based glycomacrocycle is capable of forming a 1:1 complex with divalent metal ions in both E‐ and Z‐isomers. The complexes undergo light‐free Z→E isomerization in a timescale spanning from seconds to weeks.
