GRK2-Dependent Desensitization Downstream of G Proteins
Journal of Receptors and Signal Transduction, 2008G protein-coupled receptor kinases (GRKs) are serine/threonine kinases first discovered by its role in receptor desensitization. Phosphorylation of the C-terminal tail of GPCRs by GRKs triggers the docking of beta-arrestins and the functional uncoupling of G proteins and receptors. In addition, we and others have uncovered new direct ways by which GRKs

Grk2 is an Essential Regulator of CXCR7 Signalling in Astrocytes
Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology, 2012We previously demonstrated that in astrocytes, SDF-1/CXCL12 exclusively signals through CXCR7 despite the additional presence of the alternate SDF-1/CXCL12 receptor, CXCR4. In addition, we provided evidence that astrocytic CXCR7-signalling involves a G protein-dependent mechanism.

GRK2 in cardiovascular disease and its potential as a therapeutic target
Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, 2022Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) represent the leading cause of death globally. Despite major advances in the field of pharmacological CVD treatments, particularly in the field of heart failure (HF) research, case numbers and overall mortality remain high and have trended upwards over the last few years.

A GRK2 peptide prevents heart failure
Science, 2016Cardiovascular Biology During cardiac hypertrophy, sustained high blood pressure causes the heart walls to thicken to deal with the increased load. If left unchecked, cardiac hypertrophy leads to heart failure. A particular part of the kinase and scaffolding protein GRK2 inhibits a G protein that promotes cardiac hypertrophy.

Exploring the potential biological function of GRK2 in colorectal cancer
Functional & Integrative GenomicsColorectal cancer (CRC) is a malignant tumor of the gastrointestinal tract with high morbidity and mortality. There is growing evidence that GRK2 plays a key role in the development and progression of several human cancers. However, the role and potential mechanisms of GRK2 in colon cancer (COAD) are unclear. The expression data of GRK2 was downloaded ...
