Molecular detection of gyrA and mexA genes in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Molecular Biology Reports, 2021
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the types of bacteria that arises resistance toward fluoroquinolos antibiotics remarkably in recent years.Fifty P. aeruginosa isolates were isolated from one hundred clinical samples, investigated the antibiogram activity toward eight different groups of antibiotics.

Inteins in mycobacterial GyrA are a taxonomic character [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiology (United Kingdom), 1998
The A subunit of DNA gyrase in mycobacteria is frequently subjected to splicing events as its gene, gyrA, harbours an insertion encoding an intein. Investigation of a number of different isolates of Mycobacterium kansasii, Mycobacterium malmoense, Mycobacterium marinum, Mycobacterium ulcerans and Mycobacterium xenopi demonstrated that the presence of ...

gyrA Mutations in Mycoplasma genitalium and Their Contribution to Moxifloxacin Failure: Time for the Next Generation of Resistance-Guided Therapy.

open access: yesClinical Infectious Diseases, 2023
BACKGROUND: Although single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in Mycoplasma genitalium parC contribute to fluoroquinolone treatment failure, data are limited for the homologous gene, gyrA.

Quinolone-resistant mutations of the gyrA gene of Escherichia coli

Molecular Genetics and Genomics, 1988
DNA fragments of 8.5 kb containing the gyrA gene were cloned from Escherichia coli KL-16 and from four spontaneous gyrA mutants which showed various levels of resistance to quinolones. The gyrA gene was situated at about 4 kb in front of the nrdA gene and transcribed counterclockwise on the E. coli chromosome.

GyrA sequence-based typing of Legionella

Medical Microbiology and Immunology, 2000
Comparative sequence analysis of a 423-bp segment of the gyrA gene including a region homologous to the quinolone resistance-determining region (QRDR) of other species was evaluated as a novel typing method for Legionella strains. The study was performed with 29 reference strains representing 11 different Legionella species, with various serogroups ...

Crystallization of CcdB in complex with a GyrA fragment

Acta Crystallographica Section D Biological Crystallography, 2004
Plasmid addiction systems consist of a plasmid-encoded toxin-antidote pair that serves to stabilize low-copy-number plasmids in bacterial populations. CcdB, the toxin from the ccd system on the Escherichia coli F plasmid, acts as a gyrase poison. A 14 kDa fragment of gyrase, GyrA14, was found to bind to the toxin CcdB with an affinity of 1.75 x 10(-8 ...
