Effect of carcass storage condition on searcher efficiency trials for conservation detection dogs

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 6, August 2026.
We investigated the influence of storage condition on bat carcass odor through chemical analysis. Additionally, we tested the detectability of 3 carcass storage conditions through searcher efficiency trials with conservation detection dogs. Only 20% of the chemicals observed were shared across all 4 carcass storage conditions.

Leading Clan to Enterprise: Self‐Transformational Leadership in Community‐Driven Development Programs

open access: yesJournal of Public Affairs, Volume 26, Issue 3, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Leader is not only a subject of change (i.e., influencing team members positively) but also an object of change (i.e., being changed positively for team performance). This study examines how the change of leader's personality is associated with team effectiveness in the community‐driven development (CDD) process. To that end, we examined a CDD

Effects of Root Architecture on Plant Anchoring in Noncohesive Sediment

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Earth Surface, Volume 131, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Plant roots stabilize sediment in engineered and natural landscapes, but we lack a general understanding of how root architecture affects anchoring forces. Existing models can accurately simulate root breakage and soil failure, but such models primarily rely on experimentally calibrated empirical relations between root geometry characteristics

Intensified Oxygen Minimum Zone in Response to Both Insolation Maxima and Carbon Dioxide‐Driven Warmth in the Tropical North Atlantic

open access: yesPaleoceanography and Paleoclimatology, Volume 41, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Oxygen (O2) is essential for almost all life on Earth, but O2 concentrations are rapidly declining in the oceans under global warming, stressing marine ecosystems and biogeochemical cycles. Numerical model simulations suggest greatly expanded North Atlantic Oxygen Minimum Zones (OMZs) under warm Pliocene conditions, but sparse data limit ...

The role of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in the competition between invasive and native plants depends on the soil nitrogen form

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 8, Page 2642-2656, August 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Plant invasion and nitrogen (N) deposition are escalating global change threats. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are increasingly recognized as critical mediators of plant invasion success, largely through their role in enhancing host nutrient acquisition.
