To Investigate the Effect of Dyslipidemia and Metabolic Function in Coronary Heart Disease with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus—In the Tertiary Care Center. A Study Protocol

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences
Introduction: Type 2 DM is the most common type of diabetes and it is characterized by a combination of insulin resistance and relative insulin shortage caused by pancreatic beta cell failure.

Gout and NLRP3 Inflammasome Biology

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
This review describes the three broad stages of acute inflammation in the context of gout: initiation, leucocyte mobilization, and self‐resolution. A typical case of a gout flare is presented. The role of the NLRP3 inflammasome in acute monosodium urate crystal–induced inflammation is reviewed in detail.

Loss of hepatic SMLR1 causes hepatosteatosis and protects against atherosclerosis due to decreased hepatic VLDL secretion

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
The role of SMLR1 in lipid metabolism (high fat + cholesterol diet in mice) Abstract Background and Aims The assembly and secretion of VLDL from the liver, a pathway that affects hepatic and plasma lipids, remains incompletely understood. We set out to identify players in the VLDL biogenesis pathway by identifying genes that are co‐expressed with the ...

HDL meets triglyceride

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research
The study by Liu et al in this issue of the Journal of Lipid Research leverages data from the UK Biobank to explore the impact of HDL-TG on atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk. The investigators observed that elevated serum triglyceride levels were associated with reduced HDL particle diameter and with increased HDL-TG.

Exploring rice varietal effects on triglyceride/high density lipoprotein ratio in hyperlipidemia-induced wistar rats

open access: yesJurnal Gizi Indonesia: The Indonesian Journal of Nutrition
Background: Excessive intake of white rice has been associated with elevated triglyceride (TG) levels and decreased high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol concentrations. Conversely, black and red rice varieties have demonstrated favorable impacts on

A Verilog HDL digital architecture for delay calculation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A method for the calculation of the delay between two digital signals with central frequencies in the range [20, 300] Hz is presented. The method performs a delay calculation in order to determine the bearing angle of a sound source.

Non-Fermi-Liquid Specific Heat of Normal Degenerate Quark Matter

open access: yes, 2004
We compute the low-temperature behavior of the specific heat of normal (non-color-superconducting) degenerate quark matter as well as that of an ultradegenerate electron gas.

Fabrication of Polypyrrole–Polystyrene Sulfonate by Amperometric Biosensor‐Based Electropolymerization for Cholesterol Determination in Serum

open access: yesBiotechnology and Applied Biochemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Since cholesterol triggers many diseases, many methods have been developed for its determination. In this study, an alternative system for cholesterol determination was developed by preparing amperometric biosensors. In the development of the biosensor, Pt/polypyrrole–polystyrene sulfonate film was prepared by electropolymerization of ...

Nicotinamide riboside and pterostilbene reduces markers of hepatic inflammation in NAFLD: A double‐blind, placebo‐controlled clinical trial

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
NRPT 1X reduces ALT and ceramide 14:0 in 65% of subjects as compared to only 28% in the placebo group. Abstract Background and Aims The prevalence of NAFLD is increasing globally and on a path to becoming the most frequent cause of chronic liver disease. Strategies for the prevention and treatment of NAFLD are urgently needed.
