Heat shock protein 90 has roles in intracellular calcium homeostasis, protein tyrosine phosphorylation regulation, and progesterone-responsive sperm function in human sperm. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Heat shock protein 90 plays critical roles in client protein maturation, signal transduction, protein folding and degradation, and morphological evolution; however, its function in human sperm is not fully understood.

Heat Shock Related Protein Expression in Abdominal Testes of Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus)

open access: yesAnimals
The abdominal testes of Asian elephants show normal spermatogenesis. Heat shock in cryptorchid testes elevates heat shock factor (HSF) expression, leading to germ cell apoptosis, while increased heat shock proteins (HSPs) levels provide protection.

Transcriptome analysis of heat resistance regulated by quorum sensing system in Glaesserella parasuis

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
The ability of bacteria to resist heat shock allows them to adapt to different environments. In addition, heat shock resistance is known for their virulence.

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Heat shock drives genomic instability and phenotypic variations in yeast

open access: yesAMB Express, 2020
High temperature causes ubiquitous environmental stress to microorganisms, but studies have not fully explained whether and to what extent heat shock would affect genome stability.

THE EFFECT OF CHROMIUM PICOLINATE SUPPLEMENTATION ON IMMUNE RESPONSE AND HEAT SHOCK PROTEINS OF LAYING HENS UNDER HEAT STRESS CONDITIONS [PDF]

open access: yesEgyptian Poultry Science, 2018
The present study aimed to investigate the effects of heat shock programs during the growth period without or with chromium picolinate (CrPic) on productive and physiological performance, blood biochemical traits as well as, immune response, heat shock ...

Mixed‐class J‐domain protein scaffolds promote expanded aggregate handling and multivalent Hsp70 engagement during functional disaggregase assembly

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Adverse effects of heat shock in rice (Oryza sativa L.) and approaches to mitigate it for sustainable rice production under the changing climate: A comprehensive review

open access: yesHeliyon
Heat shock, a transient exposure to high temperatures, is a substantial hazard to rice (Oryza sativa L.) production and sustainability. The objective of this review paper is to summarize the impact of heat shock on rice and explore approaches to mitigate

Transcriptomic Adaptation of Legionella pneumophila to Transient Heat Shock

open access: yesFrontiers in Water, 2022
A natural inhabitant of freshwater microbial ecology, Legionella pneumophila is an opportunistically pathogenic bacteria that has found a niche in hot water distribution systems (HWDS) where it challenges hospitals with the spread of nosocomial infection.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.
