Abstract The transcription factor nuclear factor erythroid 2‐related factor 2 (NRF2) is considered the master regulator of the phase II antioxidant response. It controls a plethora of cytoprotective genes related to oxidative stress, inflammation, and protein homeostasis, among other processes.

Heme oxygenase-1: emerging target of cancer therapy
Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) is a rate-limiting enzyme catalyzing oxidative degradation of cellular heme to liberate free iron, carbon monoxide (CO) and biliverdin in mammalian cells.

FA is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder, but the primary cause of death is heart disease which occurs in 60% of the patients. Several functions of frataxin have been proposed, but none of them fully explain why its deficiency causes the FA phenotypes nor why the most affected cell types are neurons and cardiomyocytes.

Molecular Dynamics Simulations of Cytochrome c un-folding in AOT Reverse Micelles: the first steps [PDF]
This paper explores the reduced form of horse cytochrome c confined in reverse micelles (RM) of so-dium bis-(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (AOT) in isooctane by molecular dynamics simulation. RMs of two sizes were constructed at a water content of Wo = [H2O]/[AOT] = 5.5 and 9.1.

Curvature estimates for a class of Hessian type equations [PDF]
In this paper, we establish the curvature estimates for a class of Hessian type equations. Some applications are also discussed.

Second order estimates for convex solutions of degenerate $k$-Hessian equations [PDF]
The $C^{1,1}$ estimate of the Dirichlet problem for degenerate $k$-Hessian equations with non-homogenous boundary conditions is an open problem, if the right hand side function $f$ is only assumed to satisfy $f^{1/(k-1)} \in C^{1,1}$. In this paper, we solve this problem for convex solutions defined in the strictly convex bounded domain.

Microglia regulate blood clearance in subarachnoid hemorrhage by heme oxygenase-1.
Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) carries a 50% mortality rate. The extravasated erythrocytes that surround the brain contain heme, which, when released from damaged red blood cells, functions as a potent danger molecule that induces sterile tissue injury ...

The Dirichlet problem for a class of Hessian type equations [PDF]
We are concerned with the Dirichlet problem for a class of Hessian type equations. Applying some new methods we are able to establish the $C^2$ estimates for an approximating problem under essentially optimal structure conditions. Based on these estimates, the existence of classical solutions is proved.

The Pogorelov estimates for degenerate curvature equations [PDF]
We establish the Pogorelov type estimates for degenerate prescribed k-curvature equations as well as k-Hessian equations. Furthermore,we investigate the interior C1,1 regularity of the solutions for Dirichlet problems. These techniques also enable us to improve the existence theorem for an asymptotic Plateau type problem in hyperbolic space.
