Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) is a family of collagenolytic enzymesand are associated with many pathological conditions. Especially, MMPs have a strong relation with tumor progression and invasion. In this review, we focused on association of MMPs and

M2-like macrophages in the fibrotic liver protect mice against lethal insults through conferring apoptosis resistance to hepatocytes. [PDF]
Acute injury in the setting of liver fibrosis is an interesting and still unsettled issue. Most recently, several prominent studies have indicated the favourable effects of liver fibrosis against acute insults.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Stellate Cells Activation and Extra-Cellular Matrix: New Targets for Therapeutic Intervention in Fibrosis [PDF]
Hepatic stellate cells are perisinusoidal cells characterized by vitamin A containing lipid droplets and 10 nm desmin filament in their cytoplasm. In an injured liver, stellate cells were activated through two major phase i.e, initiation and perpetuation

Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Deficiency of NOX1 or NOX4 Prevents Liver Inflammation and Fibrosis in Mice through Inhibition of Hepatic Stellate Cell Activation. [PDF]
Reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced by nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase (NOX) play a key role in liver injury and fibrosis. Previous studies demonstrated that GKT137831, a dual NOX1/4 inhibitor, attenuated liver fibrosis in mice as ...
