The X Protein of Hepatitis B Virus Coactivates Potent Activation Domains

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Biology, 1995
Transactivation by hepatitis B virus X protein (pX) is promiscuous, but it requires cellular activators. To study the mode of action of pX, we coexpressed pX with Gal4-derived activators in a cotransfection system. Twelve different activators bearing different types of activation domains were compared for their response to pX.

Multiscale Modeling of an 8‐Week Combination Regimen of Bemnifosbuvir and Ruzasvir in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infection

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Bemnifosbuvir (BEM) and ruzasvir (RZR) are pan‐genotypic HCV polymerase (NS5B) and NS5A inhibitors, respectively. In a single‐arm study (NCT05904470), 215 treatment‐naïve, adherent participants with chronic HCV (with or without cirrhosis) received BEM 550 mg QD plus RZR 180 mg QD for 8 weeks.

Epidemiological patterns of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in highly endemic areas [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
This paper uses meta-analysis of published data and a deterministic mathematical model of hepatitis B virus (HBV) transmission to describe the patterns of HBV infection in high endemicity areas.

Upregulation of MicroRNA-146a by Hepatitis B Virus X Protein Contributes to Hepatitis Development by Downregulating Complement Factor H

open access: yesmBio, 2015
Hepatic injuries in hepatitis B virus (HBV) patients are caused by immune responses of the host. In our previous study, microRNA-146a (miR-146a), an innate immunity-related miRNA, and complement factor H (CFH), an important negative regulator of the ...

Hepatitis B Virus Infection Among Antenatal Clinic Attendees at the Muhimbili National Hospital, Seroprevalence and Associated Factors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a serious public health problem in sub-Saharan Africa. Vertical transmission is one of the modes of transmission. The risk of transmission increases if the mother is hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) positive and ...

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection may elicit neutralizing antibodies targeting epitopes conserved in all viral genotypes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Anti-hepatitis C virus (HCV) cross-neutralizing human monoclonal antibodies, directed against conserved epitopes on surface E2 glycoprotein, are central tools for understanding virus-host interplay, and for planning strategies for prevention and ...

PreS1BP mediates inhibition of Hepatitis B virus replication by promoting HBx protein degradation

open access: yesVirus Research
Background: PreS1-binding protein (PreS1BP), recognized as a nucleolar protein and tumor suppressor, influences the replication of various viruses, including vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) and herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1).

Engineered molecular diagnostic strategies for hepatocellular carcinoma: Integrating flexible photonic barcodes, liquid biopsies, and AI‐enhanced sensing platforms

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
Abstract Early diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains challenging because conventional serum biomarkers, especially alpha‐fetoprotein (AFP), show limited sensitivity for early‐stage disease. Recent progress in engineered molecular diagnostics provides new opportunities to improve HCC detection through integrated material, molecular, and ...
