Human S15a expression is upregulated by hepatitis B virus X protein

open access: yesMolecular Carcinogenesis, 2004
AbstractThe hepatitis B virus (HBV)–encoded X antigen (HBxAg) may contribute to the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) through the upregulated expression of selected cellular genes. To identify these genes, RNAs isolated from HBxAg‐positive and ‐negative HepG2 cells were compared by PCR select cDNA subtraction.

Dual Blockade of LILRB1 and LILRB2 Enhances Antiviral Immune Responses in SIV Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dual LILRB1/B2 blockade with mac20G10 reshapes myeloid activation during acute SIV infection by targeting LILRB1 and LILRB2 on myeloid cells. This treatment enhances CD80 expression on selected myeloid subsets and increases plasma IFN‐λ, IL‐8, and IL‐1RA.

TP53 R249S mutation in hepatic organoids captures the predisposing cancer risk

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
The systematic approach in elucidating the gain‐of‐function (GOF) roles of TP53 mutations in early liver carcinogenesis. Unique downstream targets of TP53 L3 mutations were identified from chormatin immunoprecipitation sequencing in HCC cell lines, followed by a series of validation assays to substantiate the exclusive transcriptional regulations ...

Mutations at Nucleotide 1762, 1764 and 1766 of Hepatitis B Virus X Gene in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B and Hepatitis B-Related Cirrhosis

open access: yesMedical Laboratory Journal, 2016
Background and objective: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a DNA virus with high tendency toward hepatic tissue. There are currently about 3 million HBV-infected people and 350 to 400 million chronic carriers of this virus in the world.

Identification of TRIM14 as a Type I IFN-Stimulated Gene Controlling Hepatitis B Virus Replication by Targeting HBx

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) remains a major cause of hepatic disease that threatens human health worldwide. Type I IFN (IFN-I) therapy is an important therapeutic option for HBV patients. The antiviral effect of IFN is mainly mediated via upregulation of the

Genetic Diversity of Hepatitis B and C Viruses Revealed by Continuous Surveillance from 2015 to 2021 in Gabon, Central Africa

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2023
Viral hepatitis remains one of the largest public health concerns worldwide. Especially in Central Africa, information on hepatitis virus infections has been limited, although the prevalence in this region has been reported to be higher than the global ...

Hepatitis B Virus X Protein: Structure, Function and Biology

open access: yesIntervirology, 1999
The X gene is conserved among mammalian hepadnaviruses and the X protein, pX, is essential for viral propagation at least in the woodchuck. During the last decade, efforts have centered on elucidating the oncogenic role of pX in hepatitis B virus infection. The accumulating knowledge on pX indicates that it is a multifunctional regulatory protein which

trans-activation of viral enhancers by the hepatitis B virus X protein [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1988
We have used the chloramphenicol acetyltransferase (cat) gene expression system to study the effect of the X protein of hepatitis B virus (HBV) on viral enhancers. Plasmids containing the HBV enhancer and the core gene promoter linked to the cat gene were cotransfected with a plasmid containing the X gene into the human hepatoma cell line PLC/PRF/5 ...

Targeted Degradation of Picornaviral 3C Protease via PROTACs Confers High Barrier to Viral Resistance and Broad‐Spectrum Antiviral Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports D34 as the first PROTAC degrader that targets the 3C protease of picornaviruses. D34 effectively degrades EV71 3C protease via the ubiquitin‐proteasome pathway. More importantly, D34 exhibits a high resistance barrier and shows broad‐spectrum antiviral activity against multiple picornaviruses, highlighting its potential as a novel ...

Characterization of antibody-mediated neutralization directed against the hypervariable region 1 of hepatitis C virus E2 glycoprotein [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The hypervariable region 1 (HVR1) comprising the first 27 aa of E2 glycoprotein is a target for neutralizing antibodies against hepatitis C virus (HCV), but the mechanisms of this neutralization in the cell-culture-infectious genotype 2a strain JFH1 ...
