Effects of non-fish based raw materials on the fish muscle quality of salmonids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Salmonids are considered as fatty fish and a healthy food. They are characterized by a high proportion of n-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 LCPUFA).

Hyperlipidemia Aggravates Alveolar Bone Loss via Periodontal Ligament Stem Cell Ferroptosis Through GSK3β Dependent Ubiquitin‐Mediated NRF2 Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lipid metabolic stress triggers ferroptosis in PDLSCs through the GSK3β/NRF2 pathway, thereby aggravating periodontal bone loss. Upregulated GSK3β promotes NRF2 ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation via β‐TrCP, suppressing NRF2 nuclear translocation and antioxidant target expression.

[Effect of high-lipid diet on glomerular mesangial matrix in adriamycin-induced nephrotic rats].

open access: yesZhongguo yi xue ke xue yuan xue bao. Acta Academiae Medicinae Sinicae, 2004
To determined the effect of hypercholesterolemia induced by high-lipid diet on glomerulosclerosis.Urinary protein excretion and serum cholesterol were assayed, Image analysis and techniques of pathology, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology were used to determine morphological changes in glomeruli and the production of glomerular mesangial matrixes ...

Fatty acid composition of pollen and the effect of two dominant fatty acids (linoleic and oleic) in pollen and flour diets on longevity and nutritional composition of honey bees (apis mellifera)

open access: yes, 2006
The size of the apiculture industry in Western Australia (W.A.) is one of the smallest in the nation but the production of pollen and honey per colony is the highest in Australia.

Palmitic Acid Promotes Antiviral Innate Immunity via ZDHHC20‐Mediated CMPK2 Palmitoylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metabolites have important functions in innate immune activation and regulation. Wang et al. uncover metabolic regulation of antiviral immunity through CMPK2 palmitoylation, which regulates CMPK2 mitochondrial localization and is promoted by ZDHHC20 but reversed by PPT1, inhibition of which antagonizes viral infection in mice.

Rice protein isolate improves lipid and glucose homeostasis in rats fed high fat/high cholesterol diets

open access: yes, 2010
In order to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying effects of feeding rice protein on lipid and glucose homeostasis, weanling rats were fed AIN-93G diets made with casein or rice protein isolate (RPI) for 14 d.

Prmt6 Deficiency or Inhibition Restores Microglial Homeostasis and Promotes Scar‐Limited Repair in Adult Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
After spinal cord injury, adult microglia remain persistently activated with chronic PRMT6 (protein arginine methyltransferase 6) upregulation. Prmt6 deficiency or inhibition reestablishes microglial homeostasis and promotes a scar‐limited repairment, enhancing axonal regrowth.
