Acute Anterior Uveitis and HLA-B27

Survey of Ophthalmology, 1991
Acute anterior uveitis is a common ocular disease characterized by inflammation of the iris and ciliary body. In the majority of patients presenting with an acute attack of anterior uveitis, the only clues to the pathogenesis of this disease are its close association with the genetic marker HLA-B27 and the likely triggering role of a variety of gram ...

HLA-B27-assoziierte Arthritiden – Spondylarthropathien

2004

The Pathogenesis of HLA-B27 Arthritis: Role of HLA-B27 in Bacterial Defense

The American Journal of the Medical Sciences, 1998
The way in which a host accommodates invasive facultative intracellular bacteria must be the key to the development of reactive arthritis. Investigators have analyzed the bacterial events at several levels: invasion into host cells, intracellular survival, translocation from the sites of infection to the joints, residence in the joints, and evasion of ...

Monoclonal Antibodies to HLA-B27

Rheumatology, 1983
Because HLA-B27 is such an important genetic marker for susceptibility to spondyloarthropathies and other related diseases, study of this alloantigen was undertaken using murine monoclonal antibodies. The first monoclonal anti-B27 antibody, B27M1, is an IgG2a lymphocytotoxic antibody that reacts with all B27 antigens and cross-reacts to a lesser degree

Antigen Report: HLA-B27

1984
As in the previous Workshops, HLA-B27 appears to be one of the best defined antigens. Four sera are very good or excellent (Table 1) as, indicated by their quality scores based on the formula of Mickey and Terasaki. The few extra reactions of the above-mentioned sera are cross-reactions, mostly with B7.

HLA-B27 and Arthritis

1990
In 1973 two studies reported almost simultaneously the highly significant association between HLA-B27 (B27) and ankylosing spondylitis (AS) (Schlosstein 1973; Brewerton 1973a). In the former study 88% of the patients (all Caucasion) were B27 positive compared to only 8% of the controls. Across the Atlantic the results were similar.
