The Anti‐Inflammatory Effect of Normothermic Machine Perfused Human Kidneys on Monocyte‐Derived Dendritic Cells

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
The immunogenicity of donor kidneys on NMP can be studied using monocyte‐derived dendritic cells. Incubation with perfusate showed an anti‐inflammatory dendritic cell phenotype and function that suggests the release of an anti‐inflammatory factor or factors during NMP. ABSTRACT Background The immunomodulatory activity of normothermic machine perfusion (

Development of a Clinical and Biomarker‐Based Score to Predict Microscopic Colitis in Patients With Chronic Watery Diarrhoea

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
The MC‐fCAL score combines simple clinical variables and faecal calprotectin to predict microscopic colitis in patients with chronic watery diarrhoea. It showed promising diagnostic accuracy and may support future risk‐stratified diagnostic pathways by identifying patients with a low estimated probability or a strong suspicion of microscopic colitis ...

Optimizing cord blood unit selection to improve survival after single‐unit unrelated cord blood transplantation for adult myelodysplastic syndrome

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Unrelated cord blood transplantation (CBT) is an important alternative donor option for adult patients with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS); however, the prognostic significance of cord blood unit characteristics following CBT remains unclear and may vary according to disease risk.

Natural HLA antibodies

Tissue Antigens, 1985
“Natural antibodies” directed against antigens of the Major Histocompatibility Complex have been observed in aged mice but very seldom in humans. It is likely that HLA natural antibodies are more common than previously supposed: our results suggest they may be found in 1% of normal blood donors.

MEASLES ANTIBODIES AND HLA

International Journal of Immunogenetics, 1978
SUMMARYBlood samples were collected from healthy twin pairs of the same sex, living in the same households and attending the same schools. The occurrence of HLA antigens and seven red cell antigens was determined. The serum titres of antibodies against three different components of measles virus were measured by haemagglutination inhibition, by ...
